What did it mean to be over fifty feet tall?
To put it simply, these Void Terrors stood nearly as tall as five-story apartment buildings.
It was no exaggeration to say that when these enormous creatures crawled out of the fissures in the earth and first appeared before the allied forces, many people instinctively stopped breathing.
To get a full view of one, you had to tilt your head back until you were looking straight up at the sky. The sensation always brought on an indescribable dizziness. Add the Void Terrors' hideous appearance, their chitinous shells gleaming with a glazed sheen, and the spines covering their bodies, sharper than razors...
All these things that humans found so terrifying combined to make the monsters inspire fear at first sight.
Fear was humanity's most primal emotion. Some fears came from the unknown, others from what was already known. These hulking Void Terrors seemed to be the perfect combination of both.
The Elementalists began to feel afraid.
By comparison, the Icathian Guards fared much better. They tried launching a charge, but the results were grim. Their strength lay in physical attacks, and against units this massive, those attacks were pitifully ineffective.
Their techniques could easily kill an ordinary enemy, and they landed on the brutes without difficulty. But the effect was about as useful as scratching an itch.
Wounds three or five inches deep were fatal to an ordinary person.
But for a Void Terror... they barely even counted as pimples.
Worse still, like most high-level Void creatures, Void Terrors had no clearly defined "weak spots."
If you actually managed to break one's leg, you could certainly stop it from moving freely.
But most of their internal tissue existed in a state of "solidified energy." Unless you could annihilate the flowing Void energy,
