Though she had been mentally prepared, after Lux obtained the "history" Ione had told them and compared it with Morgana's version, she still couldn't help frowning.
"They're practically two different stories." Lux set down the record and leaned back in her chair, looking tired. "It's hard to believe they're accounts of the same thing."
"That's not difficult to understand." Eno's expression was subtle. "To be honest, given the Freljordians' habit of passing down stories by word of mouth, the fact that they have anything resembling a clear history is already more than I expected."
"Was that supposed to be a compliment?" Lux looked at Eno. "So, which one do you think is closer to the truth?"
"If you ask me, neither." Eno gave a short laugh. "One favors the celestials, the other the Three Sisters. If those savage demigod worshippers from the story were still around, they'd probably have yet another version."
"Well said. I think so too." Lux nodded decisively. Only when Eno's face showed a hint of helplessness did she finally get to the point. "So, what do you think of that Ione?"
"A fanatic with nothing in her head but the Frost Witch. Her faith in the Frost Witch has blinded her." Eno answered while recalling Ione's earlier behavior. "She completely believes the story and sees every account that contradicts it as a mistake, or even blasphemy. She doesn't seem very bright."
"But she really is an envoy sent by the Frost Witch." There was something subtle in Lux's tone. "For the Frost Witch to send someone so incapable, someone who isn't even particularly clever, as her envoy... Either the Frost Witch isn't thinking clearly herself, or she doesn't care that Ione is incompetent."
