She had made it sound easy, but after Lux had managed to drag the sled and Yukal all the way up onto the Great Glacier, she still had to lie on the sled for most of the day before she recovered.
That had taken way too much out of her.
Lux rested, but Ashe still had work to do. She harnessed Yukal to the sled again, confirmed they were headed north, and cracked her whip.
The sled carved two long tracks through the powdery snow as Yukal trudged onward, tossing its head.
On the far northern Great Glacier, there was almost no night anymore.
The sun's path was also quite abnormal. Lux and Ashe were gradually losing their sense of time. In a place like this, even the mechanical pocket watch in Lux's arms had stopped working properly. With the alternation of the Sun and Moon nearly gone, the two of them felt as if they were adrift in chaos.
Worse still, the Great Glacier had almost no animals or plants compared with the mainland of Freljord. They still had some supplies on the sled, and they could get drinking water by melting snow and ice, but Yukal's fodder soon ran out. If they kept going, they would eventually run out of strength too.
Lux was all right. She had climbed Mount Targon before, and could go without food for a very long time.
But three days after reaching the Great Glacier, Ashe was showing clear signs of weakness.
"So how are we supposed to find Anivia?" Seeing Ashe's condition worsen, Lux felt helpless. "You kept saying we'd find Anivia once we got to the Great Glacier. Well, we're here. Where is she?"
"North." Ashe didn't look very well, but her answer was unexpectedly firm. "The wind is still blowing.
