Anakin, Padmé, and Obi-Wan had once again "luckily" survived on Geonosis. After escaping the planet, which was under attack by a terrifying, unknown alien species, the three of them naturally chose neither to return immediately to Naboo, whose condition they had no idea of, nor to worry about the senators and Jedi guards who had accompanied Padmé and Obi-Wan on their diplomatic mission and whose fate and whereabouts were unknown. Instead, they slipped away ahead of everyone else without a second thought.
After seeing the Trade Federation ships and the Separatist Alliance's warships in space being routed and driven into retreat by the strange, unidentified alien bioships and biofighters, they had feared being caught in the crossfire. They'd made a snap decision and fled the system as fast as they could.
The three of them quickly discussed the situation aboard their ship, then plotted a course straight back to the Galactic Republic's capital, Coruscant. Before Speaker Palpatine, who might well be a Dark Lord, could receive the news, they used the unregistered ship Anakin had obtained earlier to escort Padmé and secretly landed on the planet, which gleamed silver in the sunlight. Then they immediately slipped into the Jedi Temple and told the members of the Jedi Council about what they had witnessed on Geonosis and everything they knew so far.

"The situation has deteriorated to such an extent? It's unbelievable!"
In the council chamber in the western tower of the Jedi Temple, Mace Windu, Master Yoda, and several other senior members were gathered. They were all stunned by the astonishing news Anakin and Obi-Wan had secretly brought back and laid out before them.
Originally, they had only known that the peace delegation and Obi-Wan's group had suddenly gone silent for a few days.
