Chapter 3029: Each of Them Had Their Own Thoughts
After seeing the potion Neville had successfully brewed, Snape, as the Potions professor, was clearly astonished. He seemed never to have expected Neville to actually succeed.
But fortunately!
Once he confirmed that the potion seemed to have some kind of mysterious effect, he didn't waste any time. He simply told Hermione, Harry, and the others to hand in their reflections and potion-brewing reports to his office by that evening, then left Hogwarts with Neville.
They set off with the potion, and their destination was naturally St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.
Neville's parents, Frank Longbottom and Alice Longbottom, had been confined to that hospital for more than a decade, ever since the Cruciatus Curse had driven them mad. Snape was clearly very interested in the potion's effects, too. Otherwise, he wouldn't have personally taken Neville there.
Although the potion looked convincing enough, Snape was still skeptical about its effects. So, eager to confirm them himself, he went straight to the Headmaster to request permission to use the Floo Network through Hogwarts's fireplaces and travel directly to the hospital.
But the results were beyond his expectations!
The potion seemed to have really worked?
Frank Longbottom and Alice Longbottom, who had been mad for over a decade and were considered by St Mungo's to be incurable and completely lost to madness, had actually begun to regain their senses less than half an hour after drinking the potion?
So, seeing the family of three embracing and weeping with joy in the hospital room after recognizing one another, and then seeing Neville's elderly grandmother, Augusta Longbottom, and his uncle Algie hurry over at the news, Snape approached with a complicated expression and said to the breathless Augusta in the corridor:
"Mrs. Longbottom..."
"Congratulations!"
