The Zhu sisters had already eaten and drunk their fill. They were sitting in another nearby courtyard, drinking tea, admiring the scenery, and chatting beneath the night sky, so naturally they witnessed the whole thing.
They had seen that monkey barge into their Fourth Sister's bedroom, but since she neither objected nor resisted, they merely exchanged startled glances. None of them tried to stop him. Instead, they soon shared a tacit understanding, sighing, envying, lamenting, or covering their mouths to giggle. Everything was understood without a word.
