The battle continued just like this...
Because they had received orders, and because they truly needed to buy time for the Dust Folk transporting the supplies, the Wild Hunters' warriors had no choice but to grit their teeth and hold the defensive line, no matter how dire the situation became.
As the Devourers continued their assault, increasingly fierce gunfire inevitably rang out across the defensive lines.
Soon, the first defensive line was lost.
Then, under the shouts and reprimands of the frontline commander, the Wild Hunters quickly reorganized and retreated to the second defensive line. All kinds of light and heavy firepower then wove together into a dense barrage, pouring toward the locations where the Devourer hordes emerged as if ammunition cost nothing.

However, in the face of that light and heavy firepower, the Devourers seemed not to know pain, death, or fear. They still charged forward with all their might.
The ordinary bullets mostly only sent sparks flying when they struck the creatures' hard, keratinous shells, or simply bounced off. Unless they hit a vital point or came from a heavy machine gun, small-caliber bullets were like someone trying to scratch an itch through clothing. They could not inflict any substantial damage at all.

The only two heavy gravity bodies, however, performed rather well!
Wielding enormous steel mechanical arms and large-caliber cannon weapons, they could easily send the Devourers flying or blast them apart, whether with ordinary attacks or the dull roar of their cannons!
But when compared to the elite soldiers from Captain Mark's original unit, their somewhat clumsy skills were still far too immature in the face of the massive beast horde.
