Inside the Hunters' command room, the dim lights flickered over the cold metal walls. Ever since the monster Mark had become rampaged through the Lighthouse, the lighting in the Hunters' command room had been like this, and no one had come to fix it.
That was hardly surprising!
After all, there were plenty of places across the Lighthouse's various important departments that needed repairs and inspections. The Engineering Department had only so many people, and they'd lost quite a few during the chaos that day. So naturally, minor issues like the lighting had to wait.
But those were small concerns. At least, the Hunters' senior commanders gathered here didn't mind.
With their departure imminent, the air already carried a faint, tense oppression. Yet Suiying, the Hunters' commander, sat at a long table, leisurely enjoying his steak. He looked as if nothing around him, not even the mission about to begin, had anything to do with him.
His Hunters' officers didn't hurry him, either. They sat in their places, cleaning various tools, guns, and other equipment.
Just then!
A series of heavy, measured footsteps approached. Moments later, the command room's doors were thrown open.
"..."
Then Lightkeeper Vanti strode in, a grim look on her face, followed by a group of Radiant Church law enforcers. They swept into the room with aggressive purpose.
Lightkeeper Vanti wore a sexy black robe with a high slit. Her face was covered by the Radiant Church's signature mask, leaving only the area below her nostrils exposed.
Even so, the sneer and disdain tugging at her lips were plain to see.
"Ha!"
"I'm curious..."
"Did the doctor who delivered you, a Dustfolk, cut off your sense of time along with your umbilical cord?"
"They should've thrown you straight out the window and onto the ground!"
