"..."
At his words, Zuo Lengchan's expression tightened slightly. He instinctively glanced toward a spot in the "VIP seats." When he saw that Yue Buqun's expression was perfectly normal, as if he knew nothing about it, and that he, too, was frowning, Zuo Lengchan's mood finally eased a little.
A flicker of icy light passed through his eyes, so subtle it was almost imperceptible. No one knew what he was thinking.
After all, he remembered what the other man had just said: "How can a few sects' opinions alone decide who becomes Alliance Leader? I'm afraid that won't convince everyone."
He just didn't understand. He, Zuo Lengchan, had easily secured a third of the votes. That was clearly the will of the people; the rest simply hadn't voted yet. His election was all but certain. So how could the other man look him in the eye and claim that he, Zuo Lengchan, "wouldn't convince everyone"?
And why didn't the Valley Master of Netherworld Valley take a good look at himself? What was he, to dare act so insolently in front of Zuo Lengchan?
The only reason Zuo Lengchan wasn't doing anything reckless was that they were in full view of the crowd, with so many eyes on him. If they'd been somewhere private and the other man had spoken to him like that, Zuo Lengchan would have slapped him to death on the spot!
And so!
After running through a string of wild thoughts, he gave a faint, insincere smile, cupped his hands, and asked:
"Then..."
"According to the Valley Master..."
"What wise suggestion might you have?"
Since the other man was deliberately picking a fight, Zuo Lengchan saw no reason to be polite. He gritted his teeth and asked with open disdain.
"I wouldn't presume to offer any wisdom!"
