On the map of the Central Lands, the trading city of Barum was a large seaside city, nestled like a brilliant pearl at the mouth of an important river and radiating an irresistible economic allure.
Stepping through Barum's city gates felt like entering a bustling dreamworld. Crowds streamed through the streets, shoulder to shoulder, as people of countless regions and races gathered there to trade.
Rare elves, long-lived dwarves, strange orcs, and human merchants of different complexions and ethnicities from all kinds of countries could all be found there.
Thanks to its prosperous harbor, the city streets were lined with stalls and shops, displaying a dazzling array of unusual goods. Alongside everyday necessities, food, and luxuries, there were all sorts of things for adventurers and other professionals: magic crystals, strange herbs and potions, enchanting materials, oddly shaped weapons and armor, and enchanted items covered in mysterious runes.
And the area outside the city was just as lively!
Since Barum lay near the sea, its docks were naturally the busiest place. Sailing ships filled the berths, while countless dockworkers bustled about, hauling all kinds of cargo.
Farther out at sea, large sailing ships crisscrossed the waves, or sat anchored offshore, waiting to enter the harbor.
From a distance, one could occasionally spot a ship whose sails bore intricate magic circles. It sped along at a remarkable pace, as if it were a magical vessel using wind magic to sail faster.
