This unfriendly reception left Coulson feeling puzzled and uneasy. He frowned slightly, pondered for a moment, and quickly made up his mind. First, he turned and exchanged a glance with Dr. Bruce Banner, who looked just as awkward. Then, still smiling, he clasped his hands in front of himself and stood up straight. He remained a few steps from the other man's desk and silently met his gaze.
Coulson understood what was going on. The other man... seemed to be trying to engage him in a battle of wills?
Unfortunately, if this unfamiliar director of this world's Bear S.H.I.E.L.D. thought this tactic would work on Coulson, a veteran of Bear S.H.I.E.L.D. with nerves of steel and a Level Ten agent, he was sorely mistaken!
