Meeting Humans

The next day, just as dawn was breaking, Ye Wen was once again jolted awake by a roar.

He looked toward the sound and was stunned!

A gigantic python had risen upright. It looked as tall as a three-story building.

Facing it was a monstrous beast that looked like a lion from Earth, except that it had two heads.

The tremendous roar from moments ago had come from one of its fearsome heads.

The lion was enormous too, no smaller than the upright python, and the two were staring each other down.

The lion roared again!

Then the python suddenly spat out a mouthful of faintly glowing green gas.

Ye Wen was astonished. It had to be the venomous gas inside the python. The green cloud shot rapidly toward the Two-headed Lion.

The enormous lion nimbly dodged it with ease.

But the gas was terrifyingly potent. The little trees and grass it touched withered and turned yellow at a speed visible to the naked eye, then shriveled away until all that remained was a heap of dead grass.

An instant earlier, the ground had been lush and green. Now it had become a barren wasteland.

The Two-headed Lion seemed to realize how dangerous the gas was and backed away several more steps.

Suddenly, one head spat a fireball while the other exhaled a mass of something like wind.

Could that be the legendary Wind Blade?

The fireball and Wind Blade struck the python at tremendous speed, ringing out like steel clashing against steel.

Sparks flew from the python's body. Ye Wen couldn't tell whether they were from the fireball breaking apart or the Wind Blade striking its scales.

Such a tremendous attack had not harmed the python in the slightest.

The python swiftly slithered toward the Two-headed Lion, making a huge commotion as it came, like a runaway truck crashing into a vegetable field.

Seeing that its attacks had done nothing to the python, the Two-headed Lion had already retreated a hundred meters.

Then both heads unleashed tremendous energy at the same time.

This time, Ye Wen saw clearly: the Two-headed Lion had fused the fireball and the Wind Blade together. It spat the attack out before the python could reach it.

The fireball was even larger this time. With the Wind Blade behind it, the flames burned fiercer, and it seemed to move even faster.

It had barely left the lion's mouth before it struck the python's head.

The sound rolled over like a clap of thunder, and the impact sent a huge cloud of dirt flying into the air.

Once the dirt settled and the view cleared, Ye Wen saw that the Two-headed Lion had vanished!

The Two-headed Lion had actually fled.

The python rose upright again and looked in the direction the Two-headed Lion had escaped, but it didn't pursue. It let the lion get away!

Ye Wen saw that the python's raised head had not a single scratch on it, and terror gripped him.

The fireball the Two-headed Lion had unleashed had exploded with a force far greater than that of a grenade on Earth.

Yet it hadn't even left a mark on the python's head. What an unbelievably terrifying defense!

Ye Wen didn't dare watch any longer. If the python slithered over this way, his little body wouldn't even be enough to get stuck between its teeth.

Ye Wen slid down from the tree and fled in the direction he had chosen the day before.

Today, he didn't dare run recklessly through the forest as he had yesterday. He hurried away in that direction with great care.

After traveling dozens of miles, Ye Wen figured the python wouldn't follow him and finally slowed down.

He checked his body again and realized he was considerably stronger than before he went to sleep the previous night, though the improvement wasn't as great as it had been at first.

Ye Wen understood that his cells had probably absorbed all they could for now and had reached their current limit.

But how was he supposed to improve from here? And how could he find Pre-cancerous Cells?

Ye Wen had no idea.

The "mysterious person" had left him a copy of the Endless Sacred Dao Scripture, but hadn't explained how to cultivate or left behind any useful information. They had simply dumped Ye Wen in this perilous forest.

After watching the two giant beasts fight, Ye Wen's excitement from the previous day had completely cooled.

All he could do now was pray that he would make it out of this terrifying forest.

Ye Wen walked for three days straight. During that time, he kept studying the cultivation method in his mind, but got nowhere.

Still, he discovered that he was fairly lucky: he hadn't chosen the wrong direction.

The forest was no longer as primeval as it had been at first. The trees were no longer so enormous, and the beasts he encountered were gradually getting smaller.

Just a moment ago, he had even killed several rabbits and other small animals.

Ye Wen looked at the rabbit in his hands. It should be a rabbit, right? It looked exactly like a rabbit from Earth.

This one was just a little bigger, a little faster, and a little stronger than an Earth rabbit. Other than that, it didn't seem to have any special abilities.
