After Mo Ruxue left, Ye Wen finally let out a long breath. She was finally gone. Years in a position of power had given her an imposing air; how could Ye Wen, who had always been an ordinary person, possibly stand it?

With that, the captain led his men away from Ye Wen's room. After they had walked some distance, a voice suddenly rang out.
"Brother Gao, this mage is so easygoing. He's nothing like the cold ones we've met before."
The captain's voice answered, "Don't talk about mages behind their backs. Are you looking to get yourself killed?"
Ye Wen closed the door and muttered to himself.
"What? A mage? They think I'm a mage? And what exactly is a mage?"
Back in the inner room, Ye Wen looked at the three young maids. They seemed terribly nervous, even a little afraid of him.
He suddenly remembered what Mo Ruxue had said. Looking the maids over again, he realized they were all around fifteen or sixteen—still underage.
Ye Wen had no intention of taking advantage of young girls. He waved them away and said,
"You can go. I'm going to sleep. I'm a light sleeper, so don't bother me unless it's important."
The three finally breathed a sigh of relief, left Ye Wen's room, and closed the door behind them.
Ye Wen was an ordinary man, after all. He wanted to sleep in the arms of a beautiful woman, too, but he was a virgin with no experience, so he didn't dare—especially since there were three of them.

Just as he thought—the closer it was to the Pre-cancerous Cells, the faster it was absorbed.
Two hours later, Ye Wen had completely absorbed the blue-green Devil Core, but the Pre-cancerous Cells still gave no sign that they had enough energy.
So Ye Wen immediately took out the other Devil Core and began refining and absorbing it. The red Devil Core likewise shone with a red light as Ye Wen absorbed it into the Pre-cancerous Cells.
Having absorbed three Devil Cores, Ye Wen guessed that their different colors represented different elemental energies.
The ape's Devil Core had been yellow, so it should have been an Earth Attribute Devil Core. Red needed no explanation; it must have come from one of those giant beasts that breathed fire, representing the Fire Attribute. Was the blue-green Devil Core Wood Attribute, or Life Attribute?
After Ye Wen finished absorbing the red Devil Core, the Pre-cancerous Cells still gave no sign that they were ready. Ye Wen felt a little gloomy. He had absorbed three Devil Cores, yet they still weren't full of energy.
But then he thought about it another way: that meant he would improve even more after his next division.
That thought did make him feel better. Besides, he was perfectly safe for now. No one in Demon Suppressing City could kill him.
The next morning, Ye Wen got up rather late. He had finished refining the two Devil Cores late the night before.
Just then, the Little County Princess came over and knocked on his door.
The night before, her older sister had come to see her and told her to accompany Ye Wen to the Library Pavilion that day.
Her sister had also repeatedly hinted that she should find out more about Ye Wen.
