Background

Chen Xin brought Li Zhexian into the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect after finding him outside and initially intended to raise him as the inheritor of his sword legacy after the boy awakened the Azure Lotus Sword. When Li Zhexian stagnated for six years and could not absorb even a ten-year Soul Ring, Chen Xin dismissed him as unworthy of Ning Rongrong. 1

After Li Zhexian's talent returned, Chen Xin emerged from seclusion and confronted his former disciple at night. Their duel was both a test and a lesson: Chen Xin dismantled Li Zhexian's Soul Skills with minimal movements, then challenged the foundations of Li Zhexian's all-encompassing Myriad Manifestations Sword Dao. 61 63 64

Although he believed Li Zhexian's path was flawed, Chen Xin acknowledged that the youth's talent had exceeded his own at the same age. He advised Li Zhexian to seek insight among the Upper Three Sects and Lower Four Sects, and his encounter with his former disciple led him to proclaim that his own Dao was no longer solitary. 64
