August 15, 2010.
Anfield Stadium.
Also known as Anfield, it's a UEFA four-star stadium located in the Anfield district of Liverpool, Merseyside, England, and the home ground of Premier League club Liverpool FC.
It's 1.8 kilometers from Kirkdale Train Station, 6.4 kilometers from the M57-J6 bus station, and 13.3 kilometers from John Lennon Airport.
This year, after Fenway Sports Group from America took over Liverpool, they decided to expand Anfield Stadium.
But construction won't actually start until 2014.
On the day of Liverpool vs. Arsenal.
Nearly 40,000 fans showed up an hour early.
Although Anfield has 61,276 seats, ranking fourth in capacity across the Premier League.
The highest attendance record dates back to February 2, 1952, during the FA Cup fourth round between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers, with 61,905 people.
The Premier League match with the most spectators was on January 14, 2006, when Liverpool faced Tottenham, drawing 44,983.
So, having 40,000 fans at today's Liverpool vs. Arsenal match already shows it's a high-profile game.
Of course, Li Yufei knew that Anfield's highest attendance record would be broken in the future, in 2024, by his girlfriend's Eras Tour.
Just thinking about it made Li Yufei feel the pressure!
Damn, the person he was tied to was way too formidable in the future—he felt like even becoming the GOAT of football wouldn't be enough to overshadow her!
After all, pop music's audience is far bigger than football's.
Forget football—even if you lumped all sports together, they couldn't match music's reach!
With that in mind, Li Yufei silently pumped himself up—he had to work hard!
Before his girlfriend really took off, he needed to make a name for himself.
At least at this stage, a top football superstar's global fame was still slightly ahead of his girlfriend's.
If Li Yufei remembered correctly, Taylor's real rise started when she transitioned to a pop singer.
Red in 2012 was only a semi-pop album.
1989 in 2014 was Taylor's first true pop album.
That was when she began her path to godhood.
By that math, Li Yufei still had plenty of time and a solid chance to catch up to his girlfriend.
As for Taylor going completely off the rails later, he'd deal with that when the time came.
When it came to fame, football had its limits—it couldn't beat music.
Li Yufei would see if he could find other ways to push his own fame ceiling higher.
After all, he didn't want people's first thought of him to be "the man of global diva Taylor Swift."
For a transmigrator with a cheat like Li Yufei, that would be a total disgrace!
Sure, eating soft rice tasted great, but Li Yufei still had his pride.
At the very least, he couldn't be outshone by his rich, famous girlfriend.
"So, the path to rising starts with this match!"
Li Yufei made up his mind—his league debut had to be a bang!
Even if he was just a substitute, he'd be a super sub!
Riding the team bus, Arsenal arrived at Anfield Stadium about an hour early.
Looking out at the sea of red fans, Li Yufei felt a surge of boldness.
Most of these people were Liverpool supporters.
But Li Yufei figured putting on a show that would make them suffer was totally necessary!
At least it'd leave a lasting impression on Liverpool fans, right?
At the pre-match press conference, Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson laid down the law:
"We have to win this match at Anfield—there's no other option!"
"As for Arsenal, I'm sorry, but a team that's won nothing in nearly five years can't be called a strong team anymore!"
"Today, we'll crush them completely at Anfield."
Maybe because the media had been running a lot of stories about Li Yufei lately, Hodgson unexpectedly commented on a player who hadn't even made an official appearance yet:
"I've seen a lot of news reports about that kid lately."
"Honestly, I don't see what the fuss is about. Isn't he just a young player who did okay in youth training?"
"But you know, England churns out a few so-called prodigies every year, and only a handful ever really make it."
"I'm skeptical about that kid's future. Maybe he'll grow into a talented player someday."
"But definitely not now, absolutely not against Liverpool."
"If he plays today, I'll give him a debut he won't forget. Hope he doesn't lose his confidence."
When Wenger heard Hodgson's comments in an interview, he didn't take it to heart, just smiling faintly:
"Funny, a team that's never topped the Premier League in its history is pointing fingers at a club that's won it three times."
"I won't say much. Today's match will be the answer."
In the locker room.
Assistant coach Bould went over the tactical details with everyone again.
Li Yufei listened while his mind wandered.
To be honest, in his eyes, this Liverpool side wasn't strong at all.
In fact, from the time Liverpool reached two Champions League finals in three years between 2005 and 2007, all the way up to the Klopp era, Liverpool during that stretch was never really formidable.
Maybe when Suarez was around later, Liverpool had some edge.
But Suarez joined Liverpool in the 2011 winter transfer window. Right now, he was still playing for Ajax in the Eredivisie.
This current Liverpool squad was pretty weak, honestly—even a notch below Arsenal's lineup!
