The experience gained from defeating Iron Monger was far more than Feeney had imagined. In his estimation, Iron Monger's strength was at most comparable to Mordo's, with only greater destructive power.
This was even with the advantages of flight, ample weaponry, and high defense. Otherwise, Mordo could have easily defeated him with his skilled use of portals.
After all, it was an improvement on the Mark I. No matter how strong it was, it had its limits. Yet, this Iron Monger alone gave Feeney nearly a tenth of his experience. If measured in units of the experience baby Mordo, that would be over thirty Mordos.
In other words, seven or eight more Iron Mongers like this, and he could draw another skill.
Feeney couldn't understand this situation.
Was Iron Monger that strong?
Feeney didn't think he was weak, but he certainly wasn't that strong. At least, in his estimation, the experience gained shouldn't have been this much.
"Could it be because I killed him?"
Feeney pondered silently.
He had been in the Marvel universe for over a decade since obtaining the system. After so long of research, he increasingly felt the system was like leveling up in a game.
Defeat monsters, gain experience, level up, draw skills, become stronger, defeat more monsters, level up again...
So, perhaps the reason he gained so little experience before was that he hadn't eliminated the 'monsters.' This time, by eliminating him, he gained more!?
Feeney also thought of the Ancient One. She had said he had too much influence on this world and warned him not to be controlled by power. Could this be the reason!?
Feeney couldn't get an answer to this question. At least, the Ancient One wouldn't tell him. Furthermore, if killing an enemy truly yielded more experience, would he choose to do so?
Although when he was younger, to test how experience was gained, he had secretly killed small creatures ranging from ants to chickens and fish. But intelligent beings were different.
Solely for the sake of gaining more experience, he wouldn't go out of his way to kill people. This went against the values he had formed in both his past and current lives.
This time, Obadiah was an accident. He hadn't thought that much at the time; he just didn't want Obadiah to escape. Besides, it wasn't yet confirmed if Obadiah was actually dead. Perhaps he was a destined villain who survived some mishap.
Moreover, all of this was just his speculation. At least one thing still puzzled him: the experience seemed to have been gained shortly after the avalanche covered Obadiah. That short amount of time shouldn't have been enough for Obadiah to die directly.
Regardless, Feeney made a decision in his heart.
Go with the flow!
He wouldn't spare the opponent out of pity, nor would he deliberately kill them to pursue experience. At least not now. He hadn't reached the point of resorting to any means necessary to become stronger.
If that day ever came, he could reconsider doing such things.
With his mind cleared and having gained a substantial amount of experience, Feeney's mood instantly became cheerful. Plus, there was a high probability of obtaining an Iron Man Series experience baby.
He refused to believe that after saving Pepper and fighting alongside Tony, Tony would refuse his request to test the performance of future Mark Series armors!?
With anticipation for his fifth skill, Feeney slowly drifted off to sleep, completely unaware that Coulson was so stressed about finding his identity that his hair was nearly falling out.
"Miss Potts, please forgive my rudeness, but I have something very important to discuss with you regarding Mr. Stark."
After much effort, Coulson finally found Pepper, who had just returned home from Rhodes'. This was the most direct method he could think of to gather information.
"I'm very sorry, I don't quite understand what you mean."
Too many things had happened that day, leaving Pepper mentally exhausted. After finally finishing, she had just received a call from Tony and was about to get some rest when Coulson showed up.
"We investigated and found that you and Mr. Stark were both at the company today, but no one noticed when you left."
Coulson asked politely, "Additionally, do you have any information about the three people in armor who appeared under your company tonight?"
"We left very late, perhaps the security guards didn't notice. As for the three people you mentioned, I'm not sure. I'll have someone collect a report for you tomorrow." Because she wasn't used to lying, Pepper's expression was a bit unnatural.
As a seasoned agent, Coulson could tell at a glance that Pepper wasn't telling the truth. However, this also indicated that Pepper did know something.
"Miss Potts, you know we mean no harm."
Coulson wore a kind, fatherly expression, trying hard to gain Pepper's trust. "I just want to understand the situation so we can be prepared for any unpleasantness."
"The person inside the armor was Tony, wasn't it?"
Suddenly, Coulson asked.
Pepper's pupils contracted slightly, and her small hands unconsciously tightened. This did not escape Coulson's observation. He was now almost certain that Tony had developed something new.
"I don't know. Tony is resting at home now." Pepper tried her best to appear natural, then apologetically urged him to leave, "It's very late, I need to rest. We can talk about anything tomorrow."
"I'm very sorry to have disturbed you. Good night!"
Coulson didn't press further. He didn't want to strain their relationship too much, and he had already obtained some important information.
Upon leaving, Coulson immediately called Nick Fury. "Sir, it's now confirmed that one of them was indeed Tony, and he has returned safely. It looks like they won."
"And the other two?"
"According to the collected data, one of them is very likely Obadiah Stane, and his whereabouts are currently unknown. No one can find him. As for the last one, I'm sorry, sir, we haven't gathered any information about him yet."
"However, I suspect Tony and his assistant, Pepper Potts, might know his identity."
"I don't need you to think, I only need results!"
Nick's voice was filled with unquestionable authority, making Coulson, whose hair was already sparse, even more worried.
"Yes, sir. Please give me a little more time."
After hanging up, Coulson sighed softly. If he couldn't get anything from Pepper, he would have to find the remaining person.
"Sir, someone is looking for you outside!"
In the studio, Tony, who had just finished a major battle but still had work to do, heard Jarvis's report.
"Who is it?"
Tony asked without looking up.
"The other party's identity information is classified and cannot be found online."
Hearing this, Tony finally looked up and saw Coulson smiling at the camera in front of the door. The man's balding hair reminded him of the other party's identity.
"Is it that... what's-it-called bureau?"
Tony tapped his fingers in the air, but ultimately couldn't recall the name S.H.I.E.L.D. However, he knew this organization seemed no simple matter, as Feeney had mentioned today that he didn't want to interact with them for the time being.
Tony paid attention to the word "for the time being," which implied that he didn't want to interact now, but not necessarily ever.
