"Battalion Commander, the Blue Force is Old A again this time?"
Somewhere in the exercise area, Shi Jin, the headquarters squad leader, watched Battalion Commander Gao Cheng finish reporting to the higher-ups. Once he was done speaking, Shi Jin moved closer.
"It's Old A. That's been confirmed." Gao Cheng nodded with a smile. "And I just got word that, at that place where we always used to hold the line during exercises, ... Regiment has been turned completely upside down. The Blue Force supposedly sent an elite squad to harass them. An hour and a half after the fighting started, they'd smoked five squads and seized two armored vehicles. Then they charged around and grabbed another three armored vehicles, tearing across the area and leading ... Regiment around by the nose."
"That fierce? Back when we exercised against Old A, they weren't nearly this ruthless. Why does this feel so familiar?" Shi Jin frowned in thought.
"What's there to think about? It had to be that kid Wang Yan. I heard the bastard can fly fighter jets now—veteran pilots can't even beat him."
Of course Gao Cheng knew that Wang Yan had been transferred to Old A. He had originally been waiting for Wang Yan to return to serve under him again, and had even gone to Wang Yan's father earlier to pull some strings. But when Wang Yan's military academy training should have ended and there was still no sign of him, Gao Cheng made further inquiries.
That day, he cursed Yuan Lang out for half the day, so angry that he barely slept...
"Battalion Commander," Shi Jin said, "do you think Wang Yan and the others might come after us?"
"Very likely." Gao Cheng replied irritably, "Otherwise, why do you think Wang Yan went to that old place?
