"What happened?" Wang Yan asked cooperatively.
"He owns a construction company and used my dad's connections to take on some projects. Didn't a bridge collapse a couple of days ago? A few people died too..."
Wang Yan turned to look at her. "Do you think this is something I can meddle in? When they were cutting corners and skimming materials, they figured they wouldn't be that unlucky. Now that they really are unlucky, they're scared of dying? Wang Ying, that's not how it works."
"My uncle doesn't matter. It's mainly my dad..."
"He can't be saved." Wang Yan shook his head. "I remember we talked about these things before—corruption, deals involving power, money, and sex. It was only a matter of time. And people died, too.
