The Wandering Path was less a formal organization than a fellowship. It was a martial order held together by the camaraderie and trust of travelers, explorers, ranger knights, vagabonds, messengers, and others who roamed from place to place.
In theory, any passerby could recruit new members at will. The process took quite a while, though, since recruiters had to return to the Great Library to apply for a new Wanderer's Journal for the recruit. The wards in the Great Library took about a month to make each one.
In practice, passersby were very selective about whom they recruited, so they wouldn't ruin the friendly, cooperative atmosphere fostered by the Wanderer's Journals and the Great Library.
Aside from their love of travel, passersby had little in common, so the Wandering Path had no real goals. Still, its members shared many habits.
Members of the Wandering Path were happy to help out roadside taverns, shrines, and other places of rest.
Passersby also considered it their duty to keep the roads safe. They would take the initiative to hunt down monsters and other threats along the way, sometimes even joining a mercenary company for an extended period.
Though passersby were sometimes mistaken for vagrants, the locals usually welcomed them wherever they went, treated them to a hot meal, and then bombarded them with questions about news from afar.
