"When did you get so powerful?"
Xiphris's eyes widened in shock.
It wasn't as if she'd never seen Bai Fu fight. Bai Fu was indeed very powerful, but even after summoning Kabaye and the Praying Angel, she hadn't been able to instantly kill a Dominator before, had she?
The world was constantly changing, and an esper's strength could increase over time. But to improve this much in just three or four months...
Xiphris wanted to ask Bai Fu one thing: What did you eat growing up?
Bai Fu calmly replied, "There's nothing to be surprised about. Didn't you notice? It may be a Dominator, but its rank was forcibly raised. That makes its rank look higher than it really is, but its actual abilities are far below those of a normal Dominator at the same level. Of course, if its opponent were a Calamity-class esper, it could still easily crush them."
Xiphris pouted.
There was no way I could tell! If I had that kind of eye for things, would I be this unlucky?
Even so, she trusted what Bai Fu had said.
Glen's talent wasn't bad among the Dark Domain Brain Insects, but it certainly wasn't exceptional. Under normal circumstances, becoming an upper-tier Calamity would have been the best it could manage.
Bai Fu explained, "I suspect it's because of that Beast God."
If it could be called a "god," then even if its combat abilities weren't great, it must have had some strengths in other areas. Perhaps it could forcibly help someone advance to the Dominator level through some method.
Sure, a Dominator who advanced that way was pathetically weak and came with a whole host of side effects, but even a weakling was still a dog.
Bai Fu didn't want to go head-to-head with an absolute powerhouse
