As for the descriptions of the Odin Icefield, too many later plotlines will unfold across the Odin Icefield.
Its geography and terrain, its local customs, and certain elements of its foreign, barbaric wilderness all need to be laid out in advance.
Pighead doesn't want to switch scenes too abruptly. Those situations where someone suddenly receives a mission and then rushes from one place to another make Pighead uncomfortable to write and uncomfortable to read.
Lay the groundwork early, and things will flow more naturally later on.
