Perhaps Marshal Beian had already ordered preparations made before he arrived. At a single command from him, a dazzling halo abruptly burst from the ground of Berely. Rippling patterns of light spread outward wave after wave like flowing water, while a deep rumble sounded underground. Then thirty-six pillars of light, formed from immense magic power and runes, shot skyward from the locations of Berely's original city walls.
A light barrier dozens of meters thick enveloped all of Berely. Heavy and lustrous, it was as crystal-clear as glazed glass, possessing formidable defensive power as well as the ability to block fluctuations of magic and battle qi. High in the sky, the Eye of the Void flickered slightly before swiftly vanishing. Clearly, the Temple of the Void could not be bothered with Berely's internal affairs.
As the city-defense magic formation activated, a dense baleful aura gradually rose from Marshal Beian's body. His body slowly floated off the ground, finally stopping several meters in the air. Looking down at Enzo from above, he slowly clenched his fist. "Ente Malte, I sentence you to death on charges of treason, rebellion, espionage, and murder."
Enzo laughed as he looked at Marshal Beian. "Your word alone—do you think it can convince..."
Marshal Beian forcefully cut Enzo off. He impatiently waved a hand and said blandly, "I do not need to convince anyone. If I say you committed treason, then you are a traitor. If I say you plotted rebellion, then you are a rebel. If I say you are a spy, then you colluded with foreign races. If I say you committed murder, then the mastermind who sent assassins to kill that dye merchant must be you!"
With a proud laugh, Marshal Beian said in a deep voice, "This is your final chance. If you kneel
