The auction hall fell deathly silent, save for the crunch-crunch of two rabbits chewing carrots.
That damned rabbit wriggled its three-lobed mouth while pumping its lower body with all its might. "Oh, oh, my dear lady, what was your father's surname? Oh, oh, lovely rabbit, I don't know what my father's surname was! Then go home and ask your mother! Ask your mother what your father's surname was!"
The other rabbit excitedly raised its two fat forepaws and clapped hard, producing dull thump-thump sounds of fatty flesh colliding.
"Her father's surname was Herman, her father's surname was Doros, her father's surname was Luluerda—but it absolutely could not have been Caesar!"
The nobles in the auction hall stared at this pair of utterly outrageous rabbits as though they had seen ghosts. Herman, Doros, and Luluerda were all surnames of the most renowned Abyssal Demon Kings in history. These Demon Kings were famous because, before the Church used divine formations to suppress and seal off a great many passages from the Abyssal World to the surface world, they had led armies of demons and evil spirits in invasions of the surface.
During the Dark Age, humanity on the Western Continent faced assaults from the foreign races of the Odin Icefield and the Five Great Linked Islands, while these Abyssal Demon Kings would periodically lead their armies in to rain down a brutal beating upon them. The humans of that era truly lived in darkness without sky or sun, unable to glimpse even the slightest hope. The name Dark Age was no empty phrase.
Thus, by claiming that the bidding noble girl's father shared a surname with an Abyssal Demon King, these two rabbits were not only hinting that her mother had committed adultery, but also firmly slapping the enormous hat of heresy
