High in the sky, millions of li above the ground, the two enormous black crows convulsed all over as they stared in disbelief at the black donkey, the black hound, and the two black rabbits below. As for the slender black snake and the golden-blue scorpion, they instinctively ignored them.
A war monster created by a hell-demon nest, and a pet insect raised by ancient humans, were not worth their concern. But those four black nonhuman beings—those were nightmare-class existences, nightmares through and through!
Cerberus twitched his nose, then broke into a most eerie grin. "Hey, Donkey, rabbits, I found two adorable little friends! Ah, I must admit, brushes made from fur plucked from their tails write especially smoothly!"
The two rabbits lifted their heads, their crimson eyes wide. Their short, fluffy little ball-like tails shook furiously, and their happiness made every hair on their bodies stand on end. Ah-ha, praise whatever god might or might not exist—had this pair of adorable feathered little things been sent back to them? The two rabbits were so delighted they nearly burst into song. Haiji, Mulin, we missed you to death!
The donkey lazily sneezed, then raised his head with a stream of curses. "Ah, ah, I seem to remember them, but look at this head of mine—what's wrong with me? I remember them, but I've forgotten what they're called. Rabbits, weren't they your lackeys?"
Big Black happily rose onto his hind legs and waved up at the sky with a grin. "Come on down, Haiji, Mulin! You know, without you two around, whenever we go stealing things, there's no one to keep watch! Ah, ah, same old rules—help us find good stuff from now on, and once we get our hands on it, we split the spoils ninety-one! Hahaha!"
