North of Berely, that peculiar magic war fortress built by the Celestial Sprite Clan was wreaking havoc. Great swathes of foreign corpses lay sprawled outside the city, some piled as high as the top of the walls. Many foreign mages stood atop the heaps, madly hurling devastating spells of every color at the war fortress.
Gales, black clouds, thick smoke, poisonous fire, raging lightning, and plague-ridden poison clouds enveloped the entire fortress. Yet a heavy magic barrier shone brilliantly above it. Even the natural forbidden spell Thundercloud Storm, jointly cast by several thousand wizards of the Odin Temple, could only send ripples across the barrier; it posed no threat whatsoever to the fortress itself.
Several hundred crude giant catapults were pushed to the front by the beastmen. Several thousand meters from the fortress, these catapults, hundreds of meters tall, slowly bent under the brute-force tugging of countless Titans. Great bands of desert giants carried boulders as huge as small mountains on their backs and loaded them into the catapults. Amid dull thunderous booms, the boulders whistled into the sky, carving terrifying arcs as they smashed toward the fortress.
The magic barrier rippled, and every boulder shattered. Not one stone managed to pierce it.
Countless foreign races surrounded this miraculous fortress from every direction, but no matter how much strength they expended or how many methods they tried, they simply could not break in. The moment they dared draw close, the miraculous fortress, bristling from head to toe with spikes, would mercilessly slaughter the approaching foreign warriors. Even powerful demigod giants were smashed to pieces beneath its attacks.
The foreigners' morale kept sinking, but the appearance of Laim and numerous other god-lord-level deities gave them a shot in the arm. It was as if the blood in their veins had been
