The router at home seemed to have gone wrong. I just replaced it with a new one—sigh!
The Western Di Protectorate was a boundless sea of yellow sand. Amid the vast desert, only clusters of bizarre wild grass could be seen reaching savagely toward the sky. Their stalks and leaves were slender, yet hard as iron needles, while their roots were extraordinarily developed, able to plunge hundreds of meters underground in search of water.
It was these seemingly insignificant nameless weeds that nurtured a trace of life in this endless desert.
Several grayish-yellow desert horned Vipers lay coiled beneath a large patch of grass, resting. Suddenly, they raised their heads, their sickly green forked tongues hissing out at length. They had sensed the approach of something foreign, but before they could react, several sharp camel's sorrow poison thorns came whistling through the air, pinning their heads firmly to the ground.
The Vipers, over three meters long and as thick as arms, convulsed and struggled violently. Their rebar-like bodies lashed fiercely against the sand, sending dust flying everywhere. Blood continuously seeped from their wounds, every drop swallowed clean by the yellow sand without leaving the slightest trace.
Only after a full quarter of an hour did the Vipers' bodies gradually slacken. At last, they lost every shred of life.
Several thin figures cautiously emerged from behind a sand dune over ten meters away. Soundlessly, they stepped across the sand and crept toward the clump of grass. Though they walked over the sand, they left scarcely any footprints behind, showing that their skills were anything but weak.
