The final chapter was finally finished. After thirty straight hours and countless rounds of revisions, I finally got it posted.

By the end, I was barely thinking straight.

This ending took far too long to arrive. I'm truly sorry.

I spent over four years writing this book, and managed to wear out I don't even know how many readers along the way. But many of you stayed with me, too. Whatever else may be said, this book has finally reached its end.

This is the first book I've ever written all the way to the ending.

I don't know whether you're satisfied with the ending. Personally, I think it's decent enough.

I filled in most of the plot threads that needed wrapping up. Things veered a little from my original outline, and the ending wasn't exactly beautiful, but I don't think it was a disaster, either. Maybe the pacing got too rushed near the end.

I made quite a few changes to the overall plot to move things along. When you're writing a book, it's not easy to give it a satisfying ending, especially once the story has grown sprawling. The bigger the framework, the harder it is to wrap up. Some minor plot threads are easy to forget, so I hope you'll bear with me.

I'm painfully slow at writing, especially when I get hung up on things that don't matter. You might glance over a line in a second, while I can agonize over it for half an hour—especially dialogue.

Careful readers may have noticed that the farther the story progressed, the less dialogue I wrote. Sometimes I'd wonder whether a line suited the character saying it, whether it fit the personality I'd given her or him. To avoid the trouble, I eventually tried to write less of
