Ch. 403Rest (10/96)

After defeating the wyvern, Liu Zhi and the others salvaged its remains to repair their ship, then rested before continuing their journey. While the thief cooked lizard meat, he advised Liu Zhi to pursue high-level cooking if he wanted it as a Secondary Profession.

  • The thief took Kapuda’s flaming branch, split it into two daggers, and Kapuda stored the foul-smelling stomach sac from the wyvern.
  • The mage raised the overturned ship on a mountain of ice, and Liu Zhi inspected it before repairing it with materials from the wyvern’s corpse.
  • Liu Zhi and the others restored the ship using the wyvern’s bones and muscles, giving it fire resistance despite reduced durability.
  • The group rested aboard for three hours, and the thief roasted meat from the giant lizard’s corpse.
  • Liu Zhi followed the cooking aroma to the thief, who told him that cooking was easy to learn but only worthwhile as a Secondary Profession at transcendent or legendary level.

Ch. 404An Unexpected Enemy Encounter

Liu Zhi and his companions set out toward a venomous King of Venom Fangs, but setbacks and a Sea Naga battle delayed them and carried their ship off course. They ended up in the territory of an octopus-like King of Venom Fangs, which attacked their ship with its tentacles.

  • Kapuda planned a route toward the venom-attribute King of Venom Fangs, and Liu Zhi discussed possible poison attacks with the rogue.
  • Liu Zhi and Kapuda navigated through the mist as their ship struck a reef and was battered by Giant Waves.
  • Liu Zhi's Corpse Soul Naga Sea Splitters fought a large group of Sea Nagas, losing three while killing several enemies, and Videnina held off two sword-wielding Sea Nagas.
  • Liu Zhi and his companions rested for half a day, and Liu Zhi made two new Corpse Soul Nagas from the fallen Sea Nagas.
  • The moving Island Country carried their ship off course, and they entered another King of Venom Fangs' territory, where an enormous octopus wrapped tentacles around their ship.

Ch. 405The Undying Octopus

Liu Zhi and Kapuda’s crew accidentally encountered an immortal giant octopus and struggled to find a way past its rapid regeneration before it destroyed their ship. After the mage’s ice slowed the octopus’s recovery, Liu Zhi discovered that it could not control small pieces of flesh cut from its body, giving the crew a possible opening.

  • Kapuda ordered the crew to anchor and fight the giant octopus after they strayed into its lair.
  • Liu Zhi and the others rejected several attack plans and realized the octopus could wreck their ship within a handful of strikes.
  • The mage froze the octopus while Dorkat drew its attacks, slowing its regeneration enough for the crew to assault it.
  • Liu Zhi and the thief cut into the octopus, and Liu Zhi used the Giant Lizard’s Bloodstained Fang and Indigo Chasing Wind Swordplay to slice away its flesh.
  • Liu Zhi noticed the octopus ignored small pieces cut from its body and saw a possible way to defeat it.

Ch. 406Killing

Liu Zhi and his companions discovered that repeatedly cutting the octopus’s tentacles stopped them from regenerating, then removed all eight and forced it to shed its armor and change into an offensive form. They attacked its weakened body, and Liu Zhi’s final strike knocked it into the sea, though the octopus had briefly injured the thief.

  • Liu Zhi and the thief realized they could whittle down the octopus’s tentacles until they stopped regenerating, and Kapuda directed Dorkat to draw the wounded tentacles away.
  • Liu Zhi, the thief, and their companions cut off all eight tentacles, leaving the octopus unable to move or fight back.
  • The octopus sprayed black liquid, shrank, regrew its tentacles, and changed from a heavily defensive form into an offensive one.
  • Kapuda, Liu Zhi, and the thief damaged the octopus with an explosive crossbow bolt, an enchanted Bone Spear, and a grenade, while the octopus knocked the thief into the water.
  • Liu Zhi restored the thief’s life, Kapuda blasted away the attacking tentacle, and the mage froze the octopus before Liu Zhi struck it into the sea.

Ch. 407The Ship Was Broken

After defeating the octopus King of Venom Fangs, Liu Zhi repaired the badly damaged ship, though it lost its extraordinary abilities. The group set course to fight the Flying Serpent, while the sea around them began turning black.

  • Liu Zhi returned to the ship to assess the damage while Dorkat, the mage, and Kapuda looted the octopus's corpse.
  • Dorkat, the mage, and Kapuda saw different equipment in a lump of octopus flesh, and they gave it to the mage, who turned it into a hood that changed his magic to black spells.
  • Liu Zhi sent his Corpse Soul Nagas to recover treated wood and spent nearly seven hours repairing the ship.
  • Liu Zhi discovered that the repaired ship had fallen from extraordinary grade to ordinary grade and could no longer use Nature Garden or Life Spring.
  • Kapuda and Dorkat reassured Liu Zhi that they could defeat the Flying Serpent without the ship's support, and the group changed course to find it.
  • The seawater began turning black after the octopus's death, and the group joked that they might fight the Flying Serpent before it grew stronger.

Ch. 408What About the Snake?

Liu Zhi and his companions searched the Flying Serpent waters for the missing King of Venom Fangs while endless lesser serpents attacked them. When they went underwater to investigate, they found a giant Flying Serpent watching Liu Zhi and felt compelled to kill it.

  • Liu Zhi and the others fought off swarms of weak Flying Serpents for over an hour, but the King of Venom Fangs did not appear.
  • Kapuda suspected the enemy was intelligent and proposed that Dorkat lead them underwater to find it.
  • The mage cast a spell that let the group breathe underwater, and Videnina advised Liu Zhi to use Dark Night Thrust Swordplay there.
  • Liu Zhi and the others entered the sea, where Kapuda spotted danger and ordered them back.
  • Liu Zhi saw a hundred-meter Flying Serpent staring at him and felt an urge to kill it.

Ch. 409Flying Serpent

Liu Zhi and his allies attacked the Flying Serpent while it was immobilized shedding its skin as it absorbed the power of the other Kings of Venom Fangs. Liu Zhi wedged his Sun Trail carriage in its throat, and Dorkat joined the fight with Lef's Twisted Spine.

  • Liu Zhi ignored Kapuda's command and swam toward the Flying Serpent, prompting Kapuda to recognize the creature was bluffing and fire an arrow.
  • Liu Zhi and the others saw that the Flying Serpent could not move properly while shedding its skin, and they rushed to attack it.
  • Liu Zhi used Bone Spears and the Giant Lizard's Bloodstained Fang against the Flying Serpent as Videnina and the Corpse Soul Nagas attacked its back and neck.
  • The Flying Serpent lunged at Liu Zhi, but Videnina struck its back and hooked the tendons around its wings.
  • Liu Zhi cast Sun Trail into the Flying Serpent's mouth, where the carriage became stuck in its throat while its sunfire intensified.
  • Dorkat arrived and attacked the Flying Serpent with Lef's Twisted Spine.

Ch. 410Giant Flying Serpent

Liu Zhi and his companions faced a colossal spirit formed from countless Flying Serpent souls after the serpent’s body exploded. Dorkat discovered the apparition’s nature as the group struggled to attack it, and Liu Zhi drew its attention by revealing his Slitted Pupils.

  • Lef's Twisted Spine pierced the Flying Serpent’s throat, and Kapuda’s follow-up shot caused its remaining body to explode.
  • Liu Zhi and the others surfaced to find an enormous, ethereal Flying Serpent coiled above the sea.
  • Liu Zhi stood his ground while Kapuda, the mage, and the thief prepared attacks against the spirit.
  • Dorkat found the Flying Serpent’s remains and shattered eggs on the seabed, realizing the apparition was made from countless Flying Serpent souls.
  • The mage’s Black Blizzard failed to hit the Flying Serpent, while the thief’s spirit-targeting daggers struck small Flying Serpent souls and triggered a swarm that swallowed him.
  • Liu Zhi’s pupils became one black and one white Slitted Pupils, and he challenged the Flying Serpent by striking the Death Long Staff against the Giant Lizard's Bloodstained Fang.

Ch. 411The Great Explosion (14/96)

Liu Zhi unleashed a combined solar and sword attack that exploded the Flying Serpent and left it badly wounded. Kapuda’s group finished off the final King of Venom Fangs, but a sudden storm and giant waves swept them away before they could rescue Liu Zhi.

  • Liu Zhi combined the Sun Crystal’s solar power with the Eternal Night Sword Curtain and pierced the Flying Serpent’s brow, causing it to explode.
  • The blast hurled Liu Zhi across the sea, while Kapuda and the others avoided its direct force.
  • Kapuda urged the group to attack the wounded Flying Serpent, and Dorkat blocked its charge so the others could strike it down.
  • Karishi was told to take the Flying Serpent’s corpse as giant waves and a storm overwhelmed the group.
  • Lightning and howling winds swept Kapuda and the others away, leaving them unable to rescue Liu Zhi.

Ch. 412The Beach

After washing ashore on the Island Country, Liu Zhi recovered and fought off a group of level 2 Skeleton Soldiers. He tried to create more Skeleton Soldiers from corpses washed up on the beach, but his three new undead collapsed almost immediately.

  • Liu Zhi woke on the beach, healed himself, and decided to wait a day for Kapuda and the others before exploring the Island Country.
  • Liu Zhi headed toward a nearby reef to recover mana but encountered Skeleton Soldiers carrying Japanese-style swords.
  • Liu Zhi fought the Skeleton Soldiers with his Death Long Staff and Fine-Thorn Sword, then decided to use the remains to replenish his forces.
  • Liu Zhi dragged three half-rotted corpses from the sea and used Summoning to prepare them as Skeleton Soldiers.
  • Liu Zhi raised the three corpses, but they collapsed after taking only a couple of steps.

Ch. 413The Jiao Wei

After creating two Skeleton Soldiers, Liu Zhi encountered Sharkmen called Jiao Wei, who mistook Videnina for a Naga swordmaster and hoped to join her. Liu Zhi revealed that he represented the Corpse Soul Naga and offered to make them half-undead.

  • Liu Zhi created two Skeleton Soldiers after several failed attempts and took them with him while searching the beach.
  • Liu Zhi spotted about thirty armed Sharkmen searching the shore and prepared to attack them.
  • Videnina emerged from the sea, and the Sharkmen knelt before her; she approached Liu Zhi and took katanas from his Skeleton Soldiers.
  • Liu Zhi learned that the Sharkmen were wild Jiao Wei seeking a Naga patron, and one asked which Naga clan he represented.
  • Liu Zhi said he represented the Corpse Soul Naga and told the Jiao Wei that joining him would make them half-undead.

Ch. 414First Exploration of the Island Country (15/96)

Liu Zhi recruited the Jiao Wei and meditated to survey the Island Country, sensing a strange green energy near its center. He learned of a nearby temple priest who might know about the Island Country and set out to find him while seeking the Immortal.

  • Liu Zhi explained undead to the Jiao Wei, then had Videnina recruit them into his forces.
  • The Jiao Wei told Liu Zhi there were no other Fishman on the Island Country and volunteered to bring their village's warriors.
  • Liu Zhi used the Eye of Ra Meditation Technique to survey the Island Country and sensed green energy near its center.
  • The returning Jiao Wei brought their village members, and Liu Zhi learned from an old Jiao Wei about a river sprite priest at a nearby mountain temple.
  • Liu Zhi followed the old Jiao Wei's directions to seek information about the Island Country and the Immortal.

Ch. 415The Squad Members Arrive on the Island

Kapuda and his companions washed ashore without Sandru, then looted the Flying Serpent and gave its valuable white vapor to Daklai in exchange for his future loot shares. They set out toward a city to learn about the world and find Sandru, unknowingly traveling in the opposite direction from him.

  • Kapuda recovered first, helped Dorkat and the others up, and reassured them that Sandru had probably reached the island alive.
  • The group looted the Flying Serpent, and Daklai traded away his next two chances at loot to claim the white vapor.
  • The vapor transformed into gloves that let Daklai create phantom doubles and switch places with them.
  • Kapuda set aside the Flying Serpent's corpse for Sandru without counting it against his share of the loot.
  • Kapuda led the group toward a nearby city, and they unknowingly headed away from Sandru.

Ch. 416The Situation in the Island Nation

Liu Zhi entered the Island Country’s divine-nether realm and learned from a kappa that the country was divided between the real world by day and the world of the dead by night. He discovered that two major powers dominated the chaotic nation, and that one of them held the Sixth Heaven Demon King’s mecha legacy.

  • Liu Zhi followed Jiao Wei through a forest and entered a shrine domain thick with Yin energy.
  • A bell drew Liu Zhi and the Jiao Wei up the mountain, where they met the kappa shrine keeper, a former comrade of the old Jiao Wei.
  • The kappa recognized Liu Zhi as a ghost god because of the powerful aura of the dead surrounding him, then answered Liu Zhi’s questions about the Island Country.
  • The kappa explained that the real world’s nodes were in cities and the dead world’s nodes were at shrines, leaving the country divided between the two realms.
  • The kappa described the two dominant powers: Kresh’s centuries-old traditional faction and Skam’s faction, which inherited the Sixth Heaven Demon King’s mecha blueprints.

Ch. 417Intelligence

Liu Zhi spent the evening in the kappa's shrine as the Hour of the Demon's Arrival transformed the surrounding land and brought forth the Ninety-Nine Gods. The kappa described nearby factions and shared rumors about the Immortal, but Liu Zhi suspected he was concealing something.

  • The kappa left to prepare for the Hour of the Demon's Arrival, and netherworld aura spread from the shrine, changing the mountain paths and creating strange creatures.
  • The kappa explained that the creatures were the Ninety-Nine Gods, which Skam used as material for making mechs, and Liu Zhi promised not to harm them.
  • The kappa told Liu Zhi about a human city lord, Skam's Seven Warriors, and the Wild Boar family, prompting Liu Zhi to consider his next move.
  • The kappa shared rumors about the Immortal and danced while drinking until midnight.
  • Liu Zhi noticed that the kappa's water remained perfectly calm despite his apparent drunkenness and suspected that he was acting and hiding something.

Ch. 418Unexpected Attack

Liu Zhi left the kappa’s territory and headed toward a human city to ask about Kapuda and the others, but found a meeting place under attack. When Snow Women ambushed him, Liu Zhi countered their blizzard and swept them to the ground with a storm of Yellow Sand.

  • Liu Zhi and his companions left the kappa, unaware that its shrine was dedicated to a nine-tailed fox.
  • Liu Zhi headed toward a human city to gather news of Kapuda and the others at a nearby meeting place for Shinkan and Onmyōji.
  • Liu Zhi saw smoke rising from the meeting place and heard the city sound a horn and close its gates.

  • Liu Zhi used Flash Explosion to burn the Snow Women, then killed one with his Fine-Thorn Sword.
  • Liu Zhi drove the Snow Women’s blizzard back with Reverse Storm and Strong Wind, then slammed them to the ground.

Ch. 419Seven-Person Group (18/96)

Liu Zhi and Videnina destroyed the Snow Women, drawing the attention of the Seven-Person Group, who began investigating the outsiders interfering with their plans. The group placed Liu Zhi on its kill list and offered him a chance to fight back, leaving him to decide whether to face three members within the next three hours.

  • Liu Zhi and Videnina combined lightning and Wind Blades to destroy the Snow Women, whose bodies melted into the ground.
  • Ice Bone and Strong Bone realized that their Snow Women and mountain beasts had been wiped out and reported the attacks to Barbarian Bone.
  • Barbarian Bone ordered Strong Bone and Ice Bone to investigate and kill anyone who had escaped or broken in.
  • Barbarian Bone told Practice Bone that Thorn Bone would be the one to hunt their enemies while they kept their counterattack secret.
  • Liu Zhi received a notice that the Seven-Person Group had placed him on its kill list and could choose to face three members in a counterattack battle.

Ch. 420The Power of the Exoskeleton Armor

Liu Zhi and Videnina fought a Ninja whose powerful Exoskeleton Armor let him counter their attacks. After they destroyed his body, Liu Zhi revealed that an invisible armored figure made of black strands of hair was still approaching.

  • Videnina dodged behind Liu Zhi as a cloaked, black-haired man attacked her with bone Exoskeleton Armor that caught and locked her swords.
  • Liu Zhi charged the man and used Quicksand Trap, but the man activated armor on his feet to stand firm and fired an energy blast that killed a Jiao Wei.
  • Liu Zhi sent a self-guided Bone Spear with piercing, self-destruction, and deadly poison attributes toward the man.
  • The man caught the Bone Spear, but Liu Zhi detonated it, and Videnina cut off the man's head while he tried to avoid the explosion and poison.
  • The man's body collapsed, but Liu Zhi sensed another presence, used Static Shock to reveal adult-sized Exoskeleton Armor beneath which stood a humanoid figure made of black strands of hair.

Ch. 421Pursuit

Liu Zhi destroyed the Exoskeleton Armor and fought off Ice Bone and Strong Bone with Videnina and Jiao Wei. As the battle continued, a herd of wild boars charged in to attack Strong Bone.

  • Liu Zhi used enchanted Bone Spears and starlight to destroy the Exoskeleton Armor, then kept attacking the burning hair until it flared up.
  • Ice Bone and Strong Bone arrived to avenge the enemy burning in the flames, and Ice Bone wounded Liu Zhi and Videnina with a sweeping attack.
  • Liu Zhi healed Videnina with the Gathering Spirit Technique, and she fought Ice Bone while Liu Zhi left Jiao Wei to face Strong Bone.
  • Strong Bone tore up a tree and used it to beat back the charging Jiao Wei, causing some of them to lose their willingness to fight.
  • A herd of wild boars charged in, and the lead boar rammed Strong Bone.

Ch. 422Killing Them One After Another

Liu Zhi helped the wild boar defeat Strong Bone, then intervened in Videnina’s battle with Ice Bone. After Videnina killed Ice Bone but was wounded, the boar spoke to Liu Zhi.

  • The wild boar charged Strong Bone, and Liu Zhi trapped him with Quicksand Trap.
