Being slapped four times in public was more unbearable for the proud Tien Shinhan than death itself.
His four clones instantly merged into one, his face flushing a deep purple, and the third eye on his forehead bloodshot red.
"Son... Goku!"
"You've really pissed me off!"
Tien Shinhan gritted his teeth, each word squeezed out from between them.
Goku stood with his hands on his hips, looking completely innocent.
"You're the one who split your power up. Blame me?"
Krillin, who had just come back from the restroom, nearly burst out laughing at that.
This monkey, who taught him to be such a smartass?
On the arena, Tien Shinhan suddenly closed his eyes and thrust both hands toward the sky.
"Since you're fast, I'll make you blind!"
"Solar Flare!!!"
A blinding white light erupted from Tien Shinhan's body.
The brightness was like a supernova exploding on the arena, flooding the entire venue in a sea of white.
"Ah! My eyes!"
"I'm blind, I'm blind!"
"What kind of move is this!"
The audience screamed in agony, clutching their eyes and collapsing into their seats.
Even the host, wearing his Sunglasses, was teary-eyed, wailing as he hugged the table leg.
Goku, at the center of the light, took the brunt of it.
"So bright!"
Goku instinctively shut his eyes and covered his face with his hands.
"Now's my chance!"
Tien Shinhan seized the moment, lunging like a cheetah and driving a powerful knee strike deep into Goku's stomach.
Thud!
The hit landed solidly.
Goku doubled over like a shrimp, spit flying from his mouth, his body shooting toward the edge of the Arena like a cannonball.
"Not done yet!"
Tien Shinhan pressed his advantage, catching up midair, clasping his hands together, and slamming them heavily onto Goku's back.
"Volleyball Fist: Spike!"
Boom!
Goku crashed hard into the Arena, the solid stone floor cracking into a crater, debris scattering everywhere.
The white light gradually faded.
The audience rubbed their teary eyes, barely making out the scene on the Arena.
Goku lay motionless at the bottom of the crater.
Tien Shinhan hovered in midair, panting heavily, a victorious smirk on his face.
"Did... did he win?"
Yamcha stood up nervously.
"Not yet. That kid's ki hasn't even wavered."
Krillin yawned, not even bothering to glance at the System Panel.
Sure enough, a cough came from the crater.
"Cough, cough... That hurt."
Goku rubbed his stomach and climbed up like nothing had happened.
"That Solar Flare is something else. Almost went blind for real."
"You... you can still stand?!"
Tien Shinhan's eyes went wide, like he'd seen a ghost.
He'd put his all into that combo—even a rock should've shattered!
Goku dusted himself off, his expression turning serious.
"I let my guard down earlier. But the same trick won't work on me twice."
"Don't talk big!"
Tien Shinhan roared and struck the Solar Flare pose again.
"Then here it comes again! Solar Flare!"
White light burst forth once more.
But this time, Goku didn't close his eyes or cover his face.
He just pulled a pair of sunglasses from his shirt and slipped them on with lightning speed.
They were Master Roshi's sunglasses.
"Heh heh, I came prepared."
Goku grinned at Tien Shinhan through the shades.
The whole arena fell silent.
Tien Shinhan froze mid-pose, glowing like a giant lightbulb, mortified enough to wish the ground would swallow him up.
Tien Shinhan's light flickered out.
His composure nearly shattered too.
"Playing tricks..."
Tien Shinhan trembled with rage. He ripped off his shirt, revealing his toned muscles.
"If skill won't work, I'll settle this with raw power!"
He began surging his ki wildly.
The air around him vibrated, and pebbles at his feet floated up.
"Kamehameha? No, that's not it."
Krillin squinted.
"He's going for a head-on clash?"
Tien Shinhan didn't use a life-draining forbidden technique like the Kamehameha.
Instead, he channeled all his ki into his limbs, blazing like a living flame.
"Goku! Take this!"
The two collided again.
This time, no flashy tricks—just brutal, bone-jarring blows.
Bam! Bam! Bam! Bam!
Their figures crossed paths on the arena, each impact triggering violent ki explosions.
But gradually, anyone with sharp eyes could see Tien Shinhan was being pushed back.
Goku moved faster and hit harder.
He was like a bottomless pit.
Just when you thought he'd reached his limit, he'd pull out even more strength next second.
"How can this be..."
Tien Shinhan's heart sank with every exchange.
His fists struck Goku like hitting a steel plate, numbing his own bones.
And Goku's punches landed on him, each one churning his energy and rattling his organs.
"Is this the result of your training at Kami's Lookout?"
Tien Shinhan gritted his teeth and swept a leg to force Goku back.
Goku backflipped and landed steady.
"That's not all."
"Mr. Popo made me run with a hundred-kilo rock in a lightning storm, and Kami had me dodge bees blindfolded..."
"Compared to that, your attacks are still too straightforward."
"Too straightforward..."
Tien Shinhan felt a deep sting of humiliation.
