Let me also mention the Dragon Vein Arc.

According to the original outline, I planned to take Sasuke as my apprentice and then go through the storyline, starting with the Zabuza and Haku storylines.

I wrote all the way up to the Chunin Ninja Exams, then the Konoha Destruction Plan, with Naruto's descent into darkness interspersed in between... But thinking about it... so many people have written these kinds of plots, I've seen too many of them, and I really don't want to write them all again. A story full of bitterness and revenge is just not interesting. So I simply cut a lot of the plot.
