Around the cart, many men in tattered clothes and with fervent eyes stepped forward to help.
With food to lend a hand, the White Bone Sect's preaching had gone quite smoothly. Most of the poor people near the southern part of the city had begun to believe in the White Bone Bodhisattva.
A quarter of an hour later, everything had been loaded onto the cart.
"Deacon Liu, everything's ready."
An old man in a gray cap and hemp clothes came over and bowed to a middle-aged man standing beside the left side of the cart.
"Oh? That was quick."
The middle-aged man turned around in surprise at the call. He glanced at the cart, now fully packed, then looked away, took out a few copper coins from his pocket, and pressed them into the old man's hand with a cheerful smile.
"I can't let everyone help for nothing. I'll treat everyone to some tea in a bit."
The old man flushed and moved his lips.
"Deacon Liu, we can't take your money.
"We volunteered to help."

The middle-aged man's smile didn't waver.
"I'm volunteering to treat everyone to tea, too. No one's forcing me to do it."
He patted the old man's arm and urged him earnestly.
