Ch. 2881I'm immortal—hit me!
- Plot: Song Shuhang realizes the Fat Whale Golden Core has swallowed the Immortality Light Cluster. Before Merit Snake Beauty can squeeze it back out, the cluster merges with the core. The transformation succeeds because the core already carries Immortality-related traits and shares an origin with Skylark’s Immortal Bone.
- The transformed core: The Fat Whale Golden Core becomes extraordinarily dense and indestructible, gains a renewed Dragon Rune Rebirth ability, and can still be spat out like a demon beast’s core. It resembles an Immortal Bone but seems to lack Immortality’s full power and imposing presence—a “counterfeit” Immortality. Shuhang is nonetheless pleased, seeing it as a valuable gain.
- Character developments and interactions: Shuhang’s corpses and companions return, and several of them can pronounce Merit Snake Beauty’s name correctly, prompting his bewilderment about his own tongue. Merit Snake Beauty and Q-version White try to comfort him, though Shuhang insists he is not upset and gently explains that Merit Snake Beauty often recites lines simply for fun. Shuhang then decides to test the core’s new resilience.
- Climax: Shuhang hurls the Immortal Fat Whale Golden Core into the center of the Ninth-Grade Heavenly Tribulation, daring the tribulation to break its defenses. The core joins in by spraying spiritual spring water as the tribulation’s weapons concentrate their attacks on it.
- Themes: The chapter mixes comedy with a sudden breakthrough, portraying Immortality as both powerful and potentially dangerous. It also emphasizes Shuhang’s habit of turning peril into experimentation—and his willingness to test an extraordinary new power against overwhelming force.
