Ch. 1341Ah, I Messed Up Again~
Plot points
- Song Shuhang is being battered by the lingering force of an Eighth-Grade Heavenly Tribulation. His cultivation is advancing so quickly that he may reach the Fifth Grade before Fairy Six Cultivations finishes making his magical artifacts; he also still lacks nine required materials.
- The tribulation’s attacks focus on the Nine Netherworld will hidden inside Skylark. The Liquid Metal Ball withdraws its power and conceals its remaining presence deep within her, intending to reawaken later and take over her body.
- Skylark deduces that the will may be able to seize control if she remembers it after the tribulation. She decides to let herself die, hoping the Heavenly Tribulation will destroy her body completely and prevent its return.
- Despite Song Shuhang’s urgent attempts to talk her out of it, Skylark drops her defenses and lies in the path of the attacks. Her exceptionally resilient body survives blasts that should be fatal, frustrating her attempt to die.
- A powerful, poison-like tribulation missile finally strikes. Skylark is severely poisoned, coughs blood, and stops breathing. She laments that she “messed up again,” since the attack did not reduce her to dust as she had hoped.
Character developments and interactions
- Song Shuhang is anxious about both his rapidly advancing cultivation and Skylark’s apparent suicide attempt. He tries to persuade her to keep living, even invoking Senior Three Waves, but is unable to reach her.
- Skylark reveals a grim, determined side beneath her playful manner. She has thought through the Liquid Metal Ball’s plan and is willing to risk death to prevent it from reclaiming her body. Her wish to die also becomes darkly comic as she complains that the tribulation attacks are too weak.
- The Liquid Metal Ball presents itself as confident and prepared, but Skylark sees through its explanation and suspects that its apparent withdrawal is a trap.
- Their exchange mixes danger with banter: Song Shuhang tells Skylark to cover herself, and she retorts that he has been naked himself.
Significant themes
- Control and self-determination: Skylark would rather risk death than let an invading will control her.
- The uncertainty of immortality: Skylark’s extraordinary durability makes even her chosen death difficult to achieve.
- Tribulation as more than physical danger: Its elemental forces and whispered temptations threaten both the body and the mind.
- Dark comedy amid peril: The characters’ jokes and Skylark’s frustration contrast with the seriousness of the Heavenly Tribulation.
