Su Yan didn't say anything.
Jeff Augustine thought he wasn't satisfied. Disappointment showed on his face, along with a hint of reluctance.
He gritted his teeth, wanting to say something more and make one last attempt to win him over.
But just then,
Su Yan slowly stood up and held out his hand, smiling at him. "Hello, Mr. Augustine. I look forward to... working with you!"
Augustin froze for a moment, then immense joy welled up inside him.
He clasped Su Yan's offered right hand with both of his, exclaiming excitedly, "Likewise, my boss!!!"
From their conversation to confirming their agent-client relationship,
less than half an hour had passed.
When Su Yan had already judged something with sufficient accuracy, there was no need to waste any more time on it.
Now that they were working together,
Su Yan immediately told him about his upcoming contract renewal and filled Augustin in on several major deals.
He always carried a pen and paper with him.
He jotted everything down in a flash.
Then, without missing a beat, he announced online that he was now Su Yan's agent and used his connections to spread the news.
The agent community was small.
NBA teams also knew that when it came to anything involving a player, they generally contacted the player's agent first.
In a few hours at most,
the management of every NBA team would know that Augustin was Su Yan's agent.
Once Su Yan had briefed him on the most pressing matters,
he became a hands-off boss.
That had been his original reason for hiring an agent.
There was still plenty of time, so he left the lounge and headed to the dance studio across the hall. The moment he walked in, he heard the powerful beat of the music.
He took a few steps forward and looked to his left. The entire wall ahead was covered with mirrors, and the cheerleaders were dancing along to the music.
From Su Yan's vantage point,
he could only see the cheerleaders from behind. He could see their faces only in the mirrors.
David Lee, McGrady, and Larry Hughes sat against a wall to one side, admiring the cheerleaders' pretty faces and sexy dance moves.
"You're here, Yan. That was quick!"
McGrady spotted Su Yan and greeted him with a smile.
"Over here!"
Larry Hughes pointed to the spot beside him, an ideal seat close to the cheerleaders.
"How did it go?"
David Lee asked.
Su Yan sat where Larry Hughes had pointed and replied, "All settled. Jeff Augustine's going to be my agent from now on.
"He's also Stephen Curry's agent."
"Sounds good!"
David Lee smiled. "I've heard of him. He's especially fond of international players, and he's good at his job, too.
"I'm sure... he'll give you his full attention."
"Let's hope so."
Su Yan smiled.
"Enough about that!"
Larry Hughes interrupted them and gestured toward the cheerleaders rehearsing. "This is their last run-through. They'll take a break afterward."
"Already?"
David Lee was startled and quickly turned his attention to the cheerleaders.
All three men watched with rapt attention.
With nobody saying anything, Su Yan naturally looked over, too. Usually, he wouldn't have been particularly interested.
But today was different.
There were more than ten attractive young women. Even in their loose, simple T-shirts and shorts,
they couldn't hide their great figures.
David Lee and the other two couldn't take their eyes off that row of long, moving legs.
The cheerleader at the front especially stood out. She was twenty-two, 168 centimeters tall, with snow-white skin, an incredible figure, and a gorgeous face.
She was the Knicks' star cheerleader.
Her overall looks easily scored above 95.
And that was without her even trying to dress up.
As Su Yan watched, the inexplicable fire inside him seemed to burn even hotter, making him feel a little restless.
Was this normal?
Could this damn well be that kind of fire?
That couldn't be right.
He was only watching the cheerleaders rehearse. Surely that wasn't enough to make him feel this way?!
Su Yan couldn't figure it out, but the sensation was intense.
Five minutes later, the cheerleaders finished their final run-through.
After rehearsing for hours, they were sweating.
Some of the cheerleaders in light-colored tops had sweat-soaked shirts, and their bangs and the hair around their temples were damp, too.
They looked even more alluring.
"Damn... this is wet T-shirt temptation!"
David Lee was feeling restless.
"Hey, hey, hey!"
McGrady shot him a look. "What's gotten into you? You have a girlfriend!"
"So what?"
David Lee raised his eyebrows, unconcerned.
"I'm married, too."
Larry Hughes smiled, his tone righteous. "I'm only enjoying the view. There's nothing wrong with that!"
The cheerleaders were resting on the other side.
They noticed Su Yan right away and stared at him, their eyes shining. Some were already swooning.
"Wow~ It's Su Yan!"
"He came to watch us practice. Do you think he has his eye on one of us?!"
"H-he's looking at me!"
"Dummy, he's looking at me. He's already captivated by my beauty. If I go over and invite him,
he'll be more than happy to go on a date with me!"
"Oh, shut up! My Yan Yan would never go for a slut like you. If he likes anyone, it'll be me!!!"
"He's so handsome! I'm going to confess to him right now!"
"..."
The cheerleaders gazed at Su Yan, swooning. They were looking his way, a kind of attention McGrady and the others had never received before.
Still,
there was an unwritten rule against cheerleaders dating NBA players.
So they contented themselves with talking.
Not one of them made a move.
"Come on, let's get something to eat!"
Su Yan called out.
Now that practice was over, it didn't feel quite right to keep hanging around.
He had a feeling that if he stayed any longer, something might happen.
"Sure."
The group left the dance studio.
But as soon as they were out, McGrady rubbed his stomach and checked the time. "It's still early. I'm not that hungry yet.
"How about
we play for a while before we go?"
"I'm in!"
David Lee shrugged.
"Let's do it!"
Su Yan smiled.
After landing today, they'd all gone home. Aside from a few staff members, the arena was nearly empty.
So the four of them split into two teams and played two-on-two.
Su Yan also used the game to test the power of [Steel Muscles and Iron Bones]. Larry Hughes couldn't stop him at all.
McGrady couldn't handle him either.
Only David Lee could hold his own a little, but once Su Yan pulled him away from the basket and accelerated through the contact,
even David Lee couldn't stop him.
You had to admit, when your strength went up, not only did your defense improve, but your offensive power increased, too.
Of course,
that was also because [Steel Muscles and Iron Bones] boosted his explosiveness.
"Boom!"
Su Yan knocked McGrady aside, drove into the paint, grabbed the ball, and soared up, slamming it down over David Lee's head!!!
The dunk was pure power and artistry.
Just then... a cheerleader passing by the court saw Su Yan's unbelievably cool dunk.
"So handsome!"
"Su Yan is amazing!"
They screamed and cheered for him, applauding and shouting his name!
"Damn, he showed us up!"
McGrady couldn't help feeling envious.
David Lee shook his head, too. "If only I'd known... I would've played serious defense and blocked Su Yan.
"Then all those cheers would've been for me!"
"That was awesome!"
Su Yan shouted excitedly.
It wasn't the cheerleaders' cheers that had him fired up. It was the incredible boost [Steel Muscles and Iron Bones] had given his talent and ability.
Just then,
the cheerleader with the gorgeous face—the one who'd scored above 95—walked onto the court and approached Su Yan.
She held out a bottle of water and nudged him. "Here~ This is for you!!!"
