The Clippers had internal strife.
They had even been disgusted into infighting by their own teammate.
This was rare, truly rare.
Extremely rare.
"What the fuck?!"
Vinnie Del Negro's eyes widened, his face darkening. "What the hell are those two bastards doing?!
This is a game!
They're giving me a damn headache!"
The Knicks had already turned it into a five-on-three and scored, yet Morrison and DeAndre Jordan's argument still hadn't stopped.
"Beep! Beep!"
Del Negro had no choice but to call a timeout.
He questioned the two of them, "What is wrong with you? Instead of playing properly, you're starting an internal fight. Is that going to help the team win?!"
DeAndre Jordan shrugged. "This guy is too selfish. I can't see any chance of winning when I play with him.
Either he plays, or I sit.
We can't play together—at least, absolutely not tonight!"
"I don't want to play with him either. All he does is protect the rim. He can't create any space at all, so there's no way to play."
Morrison refused to back down, confronting him head-on.
"Can't you both take a step back? What's the point of arguing with each other? You'll only lose the game faster."
Del Negro snapped coldly.
"No."
"Not happening!"
Morrison and DeAndre Jordan had both lost their tempers. Their argument tonight was irreconcilable.
"Ah..."
Del Negro sighed.
How could he not know Morrison was playing too selfishly? But what could he do? The team truly had no one else who could score.
After thinking it over and over, he planted Morrison on the bench.
He sent the rest of the starting lineup back out and put reserve Nick Young in to replace Morrison.
Coach Del Negro also comforted Morrison. "Lead the second unit. You'll have the green light."
