It was late.
Daeron undressed and climbed into bed, turning over several place names in his mind.
"Highgarden, Pentos, the Vale, Skagos..."
All were locations with clear records of dragon eggs or suspected dragon eggs.
Clinging to that obsession with finding dragon eggs, Daeron drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Dawn, 2:00 AM.
The Dragon Tongue Farm was utterly silent, the night sky a deep black with not a trace of light.
Suddenly, a faint rustle of wings broke the stillness, and a glimmer of light bobbed up and down across the night sky.
The sleeping Daeron seemed to sense something, the tension in his brow from the day gradually easing.
The light revealed its true form.
A sprite, well-proportioned, wearing a pink dress, no larger than an adult's palm.
"Hee hee."
The pink sprite flew to the farmland where seeds had been planted, a look of admiration flashing through its clear eyes as it let out a pure, bell-like laugh.
Waving its magic wand, it went bling bling twice, scattering powder full of vibrant life energy.
Then, it vanished into the night sky in a flash.
The next day, early morning.
Daeron woke up promptly at 6 AM, ate a simple meal of dry rations, and felt full of energy.
"Time for the old farmer to water again."
Filled with fresh anticipation for the farm, he pushed open the door of the cabin.
Daeron froze: "Huh?"
On the 3x3 farmland right outside the door, the nine un-sprouted seeds were gone, replaced by nine fully mature crops.
"Have I been sleeping for days?"
Daeron quickly opened his system panel and checked the time in the upper right corner.
Spring Day 2, Clear, 6:05
"That's not right."
Experiencing this for the first time, Daeron's mind couldn't wrap around it at first.
These aren't my crops. My crops aren't this mature.
"No, it's a nighttime Sprite event."
Shaking his head to clear the strange thoughts, Daeron found the truth.
On the Stardew Valley farm, there was a small chance every night of triggering a random event.
Things like the Witch, the Sprite, a meteor, or the Owl Statue.
The Sprite event was undoubtedly one of the most helpful, instantly ripening any unripe crops within a certain range.
"Such good luck."
Daeron couldn't control the upward twitch of his lips as he rolled up his sleeves and started harvesting.
Pop~ Pop pop~~
He yanked out a parsnip shaped like a radish with his bare hands, then pulled up two round cauliflowers, the roots making a satisfying dull sound as they left the soil.
He picked the green beans—not one at a time like in the game, but a handful of ten from a single cluster.
"Makes sense. It'd be weird to only pick one bean pole at a time."
Daeron nodded firmly.
After storing away the three types of offering crops, he dug up five potatoes from the farmland.
Potato: 6 days to mature, single harvest, chance for multiple yields
"Hope I get a few extra potatoes." Daeron bent down and started digging.
As he dug up the fourth potato, a gentle, warm current filled his entire body, freezing him in place, still bent over.
[There's something you might want to consider by the end of today]
A small, inconspicuous line of text appeared on the system panel.
"Farming level increased."
Daeron resumed movement, feeling a deeper understanding of life force.
He pulled up the farm panel.
[Farmer: Daeron Targaryen]
Farming: Level 1
Mining: Level 0
Foraging: Level 0
Fishing: Level 0
Combat: Level 0
Sure enough, farming reached level 1.
After going to bed tonight, the crafting panel should unlock new items.
"Harvest one crop tomorrow, sell it, and buy more seeds to speed up capital accumulation."
Daeron stretched his body and continued digging potatoes.
He had to admit, his luck really seemed to be good.
One plot yielded three, three plots yielded two each, and the last plot yielded one.
Ten potatoes total, exactly double the amount he had planted.
Sensing the vibrant life force of the crops, he noticed that three of the ten potatoes were Silver Star quality.
"Please don't let it be a lifespan drain."
Daeron's expression shifted slightly as he hurried back to the cabin.
Looking at the history of House Targaryen, every member named Daeron Targaryen was remarkable—from Daeron the Daring and the Young Dragon above, to Daeron II who put down the First Blackfyre Rebellion below.
But without exception, they all lived short lives.
Back inside, he turned on the old TV.
After a crackling signal reception noise, two program channel options appeared on the snowy screen.
First, check the Weather Forecast:
[Welcome to... broadcasting tomorrow's... rain all day tomorrow.]
Rain on the third day of spring, no problem.
"I wonder how wide the affected area is?"
Daeron subconsciously thought about using advance weather knowledge to achieve some unexpected effects.
But first, he checked the other channel, the Divination Channel.
Fortune telling:
[The elves are very happy today! They will bring good luck to everyone as much as they can.]
"Great!" Daeron let out a long breath.
As long as it wasn't a lifespan drain, he was destined to live a long life.
Let me explain the TV: it has two permanent program channels, the Weather Forecast and the Divination Fortune Telling.
The former is easy to understand; the latter divines the farmer's luck for the day.
Without external interference, the upper and lower thresholds of luck range between (+0.125) and (-0.075).
The levels of good and bad luck, from high to low:
The elves will bring good luck to everyone > You're going to be lucky today > The elves have no emotional inclination today > The elves are very indifferent today > You're going to have bad luck > The elves are very dissatisfied today.
Among these, "The elves have no emotional inclination today" is the most special—the increase or decrease in luck is not fixed; it could be good luck or bad luck.
Judging from the divination program, today was definitely the best Iridium Star Luck Day.
Additionally, the TV occasionally broadcasts "Living Off the Ground" and "Food Queen," which provide tips on managing the farm and teach cooking methods for various crops—both very useful.
"More useful than the Forest Witch's prophecies."
Daeron decided that from now on, whenever he wasn't on the farm, he would bring the old TV with him.
A person's fortune could reveal too many problems.
Since there was nothing else to do, he walked out of the cabin and continued working.
With too many types of harvested crops, and different quality potatoes taking up two inventory slots, Daeron picked up his axe and chopped down two trees in a row.
Unable to tell oak from maple, he focused on the conspicuous pine trees.
Clang clang clang!
Amid a series of dull, forceful chopping sounds, two large pine trees, each as thick as a man's embrace, toppled over.
Daeron was strong, and the axe was specifically effective against trees, so it was fast and reasonable.
A battered, broken axe that, if placed outside, could be called a "Tree Bane" artifact.
From the two pine trees and the previous day's farm clearing, he collected a total of 77 wood, 17 stone, 27 fiber, 38 sap, and one pine seed.
Opening the crafting panel, he consumed 50 wood to craft a chest.
The next moment, a chest resembling a pirate's treasure chest—a meter-wide bronze wooden box—landed on the ground.
The Chest was a black technology of the System Panel, with an internal inventory of 36 slots.
When empty, it could be carried on one's person.
Once items were stored inside, it could only be moved slowly by using tools like the Pickaxe or Axe to knock it along.
Daeren gave it a try.
The Chest could only be used by himself; others couldn't open it or move it away.
"If I take this out, I could call myself a Wizard."
Daeren amused himself as he stored all sorts of materials and sacrificial crops into the Chest.
There was still plenty of work to do.
Buying seeds, petting the chicks...
Oh, right.
He also needed to check the Mailbox for any letter inviting him to the seaside, so he could obtain a Fishing Rod.
