Reilo and Windsor sensed something approaching from the depths of the pitch-black night almost simultaneously.
There were still only a few of them.
But to the naked eye, the dark sky showed no sign of anything unusual.
In the distance, the scholar-advisors keeping watch under the soldiers' protection still hadn't sounded the battle alarm.
By comparison, the two Divine Messengers' senses were clearly far less acute.
Only after noticing Reilo and Windsor's reactions did the two Divine Messengers glance toward the horizon and frown slightly. They hadn't sensed anything unusual.
That was to be expected.
Both drew their power from the gods behind them. Though an apostle could, when necessary, gain immense power for a short time at a tremendous cost, earning both reverence and fear, in essence they were still ordinary, low-level lifeforms. They had undergone no fundamental evolution.
But at the level of Royal Academicians like Reilo and Windsor, their life essence was gradually approaching mastery of a certain Law Power. Their sensitivity to energy and their ability to control it grew ever stronger.
To use an analogy:
The world was a self-circulating pool teeming with algae and microorganisms. The power ordinary creatures could control amounted to no more than a few drops of water, used merely as a means of attacking one another. But to creatures who had mastered Law Power, the laws they commanded were like a solid substance. They could easily send ripples shuddering across the pool on a vast scale—wonders that seemed like miracles to the other organisms.
The two apostles knew the two Royal Academicians of the Glan Empire wouldn't act this way without reason.
The bald man stood six foot three, his chest muscles like a slab of granite, his cheekbones sharply defined. His gaze shifted from Windsor to the
