The Tidal Civilization's scientific corps consisted of six teams, each with anywhere from a few thousand members to more.

Five of the teams conducted research into everyday practical technology. They were the teams Ningjing Bay Headquarters was most enthusiastic about pouring resources into.

That was because the technologies they developed were generally practical ones that could be put to use in a short time.

Yet more than 80 percent of the teams led by past chief scientists had come from another group.

The Theoretical Research Team.

Before long, every member of the scientific corps knew that Ningjing Bay Headquarters would invest an unprecedented amount of resources to support the Theoretical Research Team's work on the Sea Roar technology.

At once,

the Tidal Elves of the obscure Theoretical Research Team briefly showed their disbelief. Then the chief scientist summoned them, and they began working on an intensive experimental plan.

As an advanced civilization that had developed Curvature Spacetime technology,

the Tidal Civilization could no longer expect its scientific breakthroughs to happen as they did in lesser civilizations: in some tiny, workshop-like laboratory, where a flash of inspiration might yield a result by chance.

With a complete system of scientific theory, the Tidal Civilization was a mature society. To achieve greater heights on the technology tree, it needed to conduct large-scale, systematic experiments, overturn its fundamental theories, and explore the realm of natural laws in depth.

The Sea Roar Project was a technical theory proposed more than three hundred years ago by one of the Tidal Civilization's chief scientists.

Its principle was simple.

All it required was a device that could split the most common water molecules into hydrogen and oxygen, then use the energy released when hydrogen and oxygen combined to power the device and split even more water.
