A moose, an alpaca, and a musk ox grazed together on the lakeside grass. The combination looked rather bizarre.
More importantly, none of the three showed any wariness toward Reilo as he approached. They kept their heads down and continued grazing until Reilo placed his hand on the musk ox's neck. Only then did it slowly move forward, seemingly to avoid touching the others.
Although the musk ox before him differed in size from the rabbit specimen he had examined earlier, there was no doubt that the two were fundamentally the same.
Moo.
Reilo pressed down with his palm. The musk ox let out a cry, its spine snapped, and it crashed heavily onto the grass.
At the same time, the alpaca and moose beside it turned to look at Reilo, putting him on guard as he silently observed the musk ox.
Their eyes were hollow, devoid of emotion.
Reilo felt as though he were looking at two puppets.
With a whoosh, several silvery-white metal specks, each about the size of a grain of rice, flew from the fallen musk ox's nostrils. The musk ox was much larger than the wild rabbit he had seen earlier. To the Black Death Clan, that meant a much larger city—or perhaps a more powerful kingdom. As a result, more than a dozen metal specks flew from its body, sending black-speck attacks at Reilo.
Reilo knew it was the plague.
He had no desire to cut away more of his own skin. A transparent shield instantly appeared over his body. The black specks left not a mark on it, instead sliding down its shining energy structure like drops of ink.
Reilo immediately cast the Bubble Technique several times, easily trapping all the metal specks. No matter how wildly the tiny metal grains darted about,
