The Black Death Clan's fleet was not infinite, after all.
Reilo could clearly sense that although the silver metallic particle-sized Flying Devices in the distance still seemed to be pouring in endlessly, their numbers had dropped noticeably. They were clearly nearing their limit and could not hold out much longer.
"There it is!"
Reilo sensed something unusual again.
This time, he was certain that some unknown secret lay within this eye of the storm.
On the surface, nothing seemed amiss. He was focused on wiping out the metallic particle-sized Flying Devices surging toward him one after another. In truth, however, he was carefully sensing every blade of grass and every tree within his reach, searching for that strange presence.
Suddenly—
Reilo's expression shifted slightly. He whipped around and stared into a patch of darkness.
He seemed almost unable to believe his eyes. His gaze fixed on the figure that was no longer hiding in the darkness, staggering toward him.
"A human?"
It was no wonder Reilo was so astonished. The figure emerging from the darkness was a humanoid creature, lurching and stumbling forward. Its height and build were almost identical to those of an ordinary human. Only the thick layer of black smoke enveloping its body was truly unsettling and terrifying.
Reilo's mental probe received no response, as expected.
It stopped a few hundred meters in front of him and looked up. Reilo met its gaze, but all he saw was utter darkness, perfectly still.
"Quit your theatrics!"
His voice was cold.
Since it had not responded, Reilo had no reason to hold back. He would find out whether it was human or ghost once he destroyed it. Perhaps it was some kind of bionic creature, a humanoid species, or even an Ancient Aurora person.
At Reilo's words, the enormous
