At that moment, Xiao Bai suddenly felt a little unsure of herself. A smile appeared on Ye Qiu's face. He put the bone whistle away in his Soul Tool, then reached out with both hands to help Xiao Bai up—without taking the slightest advantage, of course.
"All right. Be careful."
Xiao Bai nodded, quickly shook off Ye Qiu's hands, and took two steps back. His sudden change in attitude had caught her completely off guard, but that didn't mean she could accept it so easily. Perhaps she still needed some time to let her feelings settle.
Only then could they truly get along without any awkwardness or distance between them.
"I will."
Ye Qiu smiled and was just about to turn and leave.
Suddenly, his body vanished right in front of Xiao Bai. Ye Qiu hadn't left, though. Xiao Bai immediately tensed up, on high alert. She could feel Ye Qiu's spiritual power locking onto her!
"Ah—!"
Xiao Bai let out a startled shriek. Ye Qiu appeared behind her in an instant and pulled her into his arms, wrapping both arms tightly around her.
He bared his fangs and bit down on Xiao Bai's neck, near her collarbone.
"Ah, ngh!"
Xiao Bai hurriedly ducked and bent forward, trying to avoid him, but it was already too late.
