Zhu Zhuqing was raised under the constraints of the Zhu family’s succession struggle. She enjoyed a happy childhood before awakening her Martial Soul, after which her treatment at home deteriorated; she endured her sister’s suppression, humiliation, assassinations, and pursuit before escaping to Shrek Academy. 180

She came to Shrek seeking Dai Mubai, whose fate was tied to hers, but found him cowardly, indulgent, and unwilling to strive. His decline left her feeling that her own years of effort had been meaningless, while her limited talent made survival outside the family system seem impossible. 121

Ye Qiu first drew her attention by revealing Soul Ancestor cultivation and a black fourth Soul Ring at the Shrek entrance examination. She accepted his instruction in the Mysterious Heaven Skill after he offered her a way to change her circumstances, though she remained wary of the price of his help. 100 121 122
