The surging Lan Poison slowed the Hui Insects' advance as they devoured the Five Elements Qi, but after only a few moments, the once-solid, towering Black Fortress lost its majesty in the wind and snow, becoming impossibly fragile.
It looked splendid on the outside, but inside was a complete mess. The black water that had bored through the highest point and poured down corroded every floor, as if the heavens had collapsed and left a massive hole.
Almost none of the Wang's Chariots still underground had escaped. The Wang Army stationed in the royal city had nowhere to flee, and died amid a continuous chorus of screams.
Once everyone was dead, only the Lan Poison and the Hui Insects remained to fight each other.
Gu Gan and several Protectors redirected the Lan Du Gas that had erupted underground toward the black-water Hui Insects with their techniques. Only then did they stop the Hui Insects from advancing.
Once the situation was somewhat under control, Gu Gan hurriedly asked Old Man Zhu San, "Where's Zhi Ya?"
Old Man Zhu San almost didn't realize who he meant. "She should be behind us, Young Master. Don't worry yet!"
"What do you mean, 'she should be behind us'?" Gu Gan roared, about to lose his temper, when he heard Xun Zhiya calling to him. Only then did he let Old Man Zhu San off the hook.
Xun Zhiya rode the Golden-Winged Peng in the air. Gu Gan used the Wind Riding Technique to rush over, anxiously looking her over. "Were you hurt by the Lan Poison or the Hui Insects?"
"Don't worry, I'm fine." Xun Zhiya shook her head, her eyes full of concern. "What about you?"
"I'm fine. I've just used up too much Five Elements Qi." Gu Gan breathed a sigh of relief.
