The skeletons and zombies waiting for orders moved quickly. In just a short while, all thirty-one half-orc corpses had been placed where Gu Su had ordered.

Three corpses were sent to the Grave Mound, precisely filling the vacancies left by the elite skeletons that had died in battle.

Twenty were carefully placed in Pit Three of the Great Grave Pile, making up for the previous losses and filling the pit's shortfall in numbers.

The remaining eight were put into Pit Four, ensuring that none of these materials went to waste.

The moment the last corpse was pushed into the pit and covered with a thin layer of soil, a chime rang in Gu Su's ear. The system's cold notification followed right after, clearly announcing the results of Raise Skeleton:

As soon as the notification ended, a faint tremor passed through the ground. The soil over the Grave Mound, Pit Three, and Pit Four of the Great Grave Pile loosened and bulged. One after another, pale, greenish bone claws broke through the earth.

Complete skeletons then slowly climbed out. Their movements were still stiff, but they kept orderly formation without the slightest confusion.

The first to emerge were the three elite skeletons replenishing the Grave Mound.

A faint, lustrous white glow shimmered over their bones. Their frames were sturdier and more robust than those of ordinary skeletons, clearly inheriting the basic traits of the elite undead who had come before them.

Next, ordinary skeletons poured out of Pit Three, lining up densely around its edge. They stood with their heads bowed, silently awaiting Gu Su's orders.

Just as the twenty-fifth ordinary skeleton from Pit Three had fully climbed out of the ground, a sudden change occurred!

A faint gray light appeared on the skeleton's back, and a small black triangular battle flag materialized out of thin air, settling firmly against its shoulder blade.

The flag bore a skull formed from intertwined gears and vines. Beneath it, the words "25/25" were clearly visible, unmistakably marking it as a squad leader.

Watching this, Gu Su first froze for a moment. His expression stiffened, then slowly darkened as his face grew more unpleasant.

He could tell at a glance that this newly born squad leader still had no combat talent.

The consecutive emergence of noncombat squad leaders was bound to disappoint him, especially when he was so eager to improve his fighting strength.

Still, Gu Su checked the squad leader's status.

"Gearbone, is it?" Gu Su suppressed his slight displeasure. His voice was so flat it held not a trace of emotion as he looked at Gearbone and got straight to the point. "Tell me, what exactly can you do?"

Gearbone bowed slightly. His tone was respectful but not fawning, and he clearly explained his abilities one by one.

"My lord, I'm skilled at repairing all kinds of machines and machinery. I can also use vines and lumber to repair buildings.

"I can fix three out of every ten pieces of discarded junk brought back by the Scavenger Squad, putting them back into use.

"Additionally, my skeletons and I can repair the city's mechanical components and help install all kinds of machinery and cannons."

Gearbone paused, then added, "When we install machinery and cannons, we can reduce resource consumption by around 20%, saving you as much material as possible.

"However, my abilities are limited to repairs and installation. Researching and manufacturing machinery aren't our specialties, so we can't assist you in those areas."

Gearbone spoke as if his abilities were nothing special, but Gu Su's eyes brightened with every word. His earlier distaste and disappointment had vanished, replaced by unmistakable delight and eagerness.

He was secretly overjoyed.

How could this be nothing special? This was exactly the help he needed!

For now, setting everything else aside, there was the Earthbound Vein task he had received earlier. If he really needed to install a mobile power system or supporting mechanical components for the Earthbound Vein, he would certainly need undead skilled in repairs and installation.

After all, this was the apocalypse. Everything salvaged was broken-down junk, with not a single item intact. It would all need to be repaired before it could be put to use.

Gearbone's arrival had undoubtedly solved his immediate problem. In fact, at this stage of his development, Gearbone was more important and valuable than a combat-oriented squad leader.

"Excellent! Absolutely excellent!"

A smile spread across Gu Su's face, and his tone softened, shedding its earlier indifference and impatience.

"Take your subordinates and thoroughly inspect and repair the territory's walls and gates at once. Check every damaged spot one by one and fix it promptly. Don't leave a single hidden danger."

After a brief pause, he added, "Afterward, you can look through the supplies the Bone Ash Squad scavenges and choose first. See whether there's anything you can repair and put back into use."

"I obey!" Gearbone replied respectfully. Before the words had even left his mouth, he turned, quickly gathered his skeletons, and hurried toward the territory's walls. They soon disappeared from sight, ready to begin their repairs.

After assigning Gearbone's squad, Gu Su slowly turned to the undead waiting for orders before him.

The five elite skeletons stood tall, their bones gleaming white. Eight ordinary skeletons stood in orderly formation with their heads bowed, awaiting orders. Besides them, six walking corpses stood quietly to the side, their bodies giving off a faint stench of decay. They remained docile and obedient, without the slightest hint of restlessness.

Gu Su pondered briefly. If he couldn't have a complete combat squad, then so be it.

He would train the Undead Warriors first.

A resolute glint flashed in Gu Su's eyes. He hesitated no longer and issued his command decisively.

"All of you, come here and enter the Combat Outpost. Transform into Undead Warriors at once!"

At Gu Su's command, the undead quickly made their way inside the Combat Outpost.

Strangely enough, the Combat Outpost looked to be less than four square meters from the outside. Yet when all these undead walked in, there wasn't the slightest crowding.

All the while, chimes rang nonstop in Gu Su's ears. Large amounts of yin energy were rapidly deducted, while coins, metal, and lumber disappeared just as quickly.

Gu Su wouldn't let the first batch of his Undead Warriors suffer. In addition to those materials, he also put some beast hides inside.
