Ye Qing spoke casually. There was no killing intent in his voice, nor any anger, and it could hardly be called a threat.
Even so, his words made Shao Jianguo's expression change, and he brought the tractor to a stop.
The narrow tractor couldn't really fit five people. They were standing on it instead, which gave them a better view and made it easier to move around.
Shao Jianguo suddenly "hit the brakes," and the camera jolted.
"What do you mean?" Shao Jianguo demanded.
"I'm just suggesting a workable solution," Ye Qing replied.
Shao Jianguo opened his mouth. His chest rose and fell, but he couldn't say anything.
Ning Zhe, on the other hand, remained calm. He even asked, "If you observe the whole process, do you think you'll find something?"
Shao Jianguo turned his head. He seemed to be looking at Ning Zhe.
"It's still more efficient than what we're doing now."
Shao Jianguo and Ning Zhe's faces appeared in the frame.
Neither said anything. They even looked away instead of meeting each other's eyes.
Shao Jianguo started the tractor again and drove on in silence. This time, when the houses appeared behind the camera, he didn't turn.
He wanted to return to the open ground. He didn't want to keep driving in circles with Ye Qing and the others.
The wheels crushed the weeds, and the houses grew larger in the frame.
As the weeds blocking the camera were flattened, the scene in the open ground came into view.
Those who had stayed behind were bored out of their minds.
Somehow, they'd gotten their hands on playing cards and mahjong tiles. A few tables had been set up, but nobody seemed very interested in playing.
"Captain Shao!" Someone spotted the tractor, put down their cards, and called out.
