Wang Mingli's aura changed.
The malevolent energy of an evil spirit emanated from her.
Her hand hovered over the man's face.
"It was him..." She repeated the words, moving her hand down to his exposed Adam's apple.
Her ghostly hand pressed against the man's throat, her fingers closing around it.
"Ugh!" The man clutched his throat and groaned in pain. His complexion quickly turned from normal to ashen.
Chu Lan looked up in shock and stared at him. "What's wrong? What's happening to you?"
The man couldn't answer. He only kicked his legs and clawed at his neck, looking as if he couldn't breathe.
"Doctor! Someone, help! Someone!" Chu Lan cried out in terror.
This had to be the hospital morgue.
People in white coats soon came running out through a door at the other end of the corridor. They were startled by the man's condition and hurried to perform first aid.
"Have you been anywhere unusual? Just come back from abroad? Have you been screened?" the doctor asked frantically, his tone full of wary suspicion.
Chu Lan's face had turned almost as ashen as the man's. "No, how... He's... different..."
"Get him out of here first. Take him out for emergency treatment," one doctor shouted. "Bring a stretcher!"
Chu Lan had gone limp all over.
I looked at Wang Mingli.
Her face was twisted with madness, almost delirious. She seemed consumed by thoughts of revenge, as though she'd lost her mind and become a true evil spirit.
A hand grabbed Wang Mingli's wrist.
I turned my head and saw October. I was startled.
I was possessing Wang Mingli—or, more precisely, her soul. She might have been following her own corpse, perhaps because of that curse. But how had October followed us here?
I studied the yin energy around October.
