I wanted to go inside and see what was happening, but the police station was crowded and noisy, and the police had already blocked the way, refusing to let anyone enter.

If I'd known, I should've followed that woman inside earlier.

I was annoyed with myself.

As I wondered what to do, I felt a chill drift in from outside the door.

I turned around and saw a shadow slowly make its way through the entrance.

The skinny man grabbed me and lowered his head awkwardly, trying to hide his expression.

Nantian was perceptive, but he didn't have spiritual sight, so he could only judge from our expressions.

The ghost looked like a short, skinny old man leaning on a cane. His steps were awkward, and his face was dull and vacant, like a wandering spirit with no mind of its own.

Yet he moved with purpose, passing straight through the crowd and obstacles as he floated deeper into the station. Nothing got in his way.

I grew more and more uneasy, wanting to find out what was going on.

Something this abnormal, something that defied the rules of the supernatural, could very well be an important clue.

What people didn't know, ghosts might.

I quietly exchanged a few words with Nantian and the skinny man.

Nantian looked the most approachable, so he went over to ask a policewoman about the situation.

His luck seemed to have run out. The policewoman wasn't a fan of his. She treated him strictly as a member of the public and told him to wait outside.

A while later, she came back and said, "That young woman is fine now. Don't worry."

Nantian smiled and thanked her, then returned to the skinny man and me.

Looks like that's not going to work.

I sighed.
