I didn't know what was going on in this other space. If its social system hadn't changed, I'd definitely be treated as the prime suspect and locked up in the holding cells for a couple of days. After that, whether I was detained or released would depend on how much evidence I'd left behind. I'd punched that man in the stomach, he'd shoved me, and I'd grabbed his arm. The evidence was undeniable.
Even in the real world, getting mixed up in this kind of mess would cause me trouble.
Who knew what would happen in this other space? If I got locked up again, I'd have nowhere to turn for help.
For all I knew, I was still an unregistered person here, with no identity records to be found.
In a short time, I'd imagined all kinds of awful outcomes.
I'd already considered this possibility. Fortunately, though, when I'd encountered dead people over the past year, most of the time I'd been dreaming, so I couldn't have been mistaken for a suspect.
I wasn't completely pessimistic, either.
Remembering what I could do, I prepared to get rid of the bodies.
First, get rid of the bodies, then run...
The police officer outside called out twice more.
I hurried toward the two corpses.
That was when I saw the ghost baby.
The ghost baby was facing the door, wailing and waving his arms as he floated toward it.
I jumped, thinking he was going to kill the police officer.
I was about to stop him when I suddenly realized something was wrong.
It had gone quiet outside the door.
I took a step back and pulled out my phone.
I unlocked it, and the screen lit up with a no-signal notification.
No signal on my phone. What about the landline?
