Everyone who had come to pay their respects went to the cemetery.

Enna still didn't quite understand what the old woman had said. Somewhat bewildered, she followed her father, mother, and older siblings through the burial ceremony.

Flowers were tossed onto the coffin in the grave, then earth was shoveled over it.

In Enna's mind, the old woman was still in that house, still sitting on the sofa.

Time skipped ahead in the dream. I saw Enna wearing a little flower girl's dress, carrying a basket of flowers.

She walked beside a boy down the aisle between the guests. The two of them scattered flower petals from their baskets, tossing them across the lawn.

It was an outdoor wedding.

At the end of the aisle stood a white canopy decorated with gauzy fabric and flowers. A band played gentle music beside it. The minister stood beneath the canopy, smiling at the two little flower children. Beside him stood the groom, looking nervous and excited.

Enna and the boy reached the canopy, where the bridesmaids and groomsmen led them to one side.

The bride and her father came forward just then.

Enna beamed. She didn't understand what marriage meant; she was simply caught up in the happiness of those around her.

But amid her happiness, Enna was also a little puzzled. She remembered asking her mother earlier why Grandma Elizabeth hadn't come. Her mother had replied that Grandma wouldn't be coming.

Enna's joy dimmed a little, giving way to confusion and disappointment.

She wished the old woman could see Sally in her wedding dress.

Enna had seen it when Sally tried the dress on, but the old woman hadn't.

Once again, I sensed the power flowing within Enna.
