A butterfly flew past my eyes and stopped in front of my bedroom door, fluttering up and down as if urging me to open it.

I looked at the empty scroll in my hand, tossed it aside, then pulled on my pants and coat, grabbed my phone and keys, and went to open the door.

The butterfly flew to the front door.

I followed it and opened the door.

Then the butterfly went all the way downstairs. It didn't go around the stairs, but flew straight through the gap between them and reached the first floor.

I couldn't pass through the stairs like that, so I had to go down the normal way.

As I passed the security booth at the entrance to the complex, I worried the guard might see the strange butterfly. But he only glanced at me before turning back to his phone.

Only I could see the butterfly.

I followed it without going very far. After reaching another residential complex a kilometer away, it led me into one of the buildings.

The security door downstairs unlocked automatically as the butterfly passed and slowly swung open.

The atmosphere grew eerie.

Once inside, I found the place even eerier.

There were candle sconces on the walls, with white candles in them. Their flames flickered.

This scene didn't really fit the identity of "exorcists." It suited the witches and warlocks they were so determined to eliminate much better.

The candlelight revealed a path: a straight passageway that didn't fit the layout of the residential building at all.

The butterfly continued onward, leaving a trail of golden dust that soon vanished.

This method of guiding someone could hardly be called original. I wondered if it was some kind of fixed spell that always looked the same when cast: a butterfly,
